You really like them? Wow! It is encouraging that one does not need to take an art course to gain the approval of a master in this field.
However, before I abandon playtesting and switch to artistry, perhaps I should wait until Typhoon issues his comments, probably something like " ".
Please note that my commendable modesty has kept me from adding my sig to the icons.Excerpts from the Manual of the Civilization Fanatic :

I know some of the units are similar in appearance to others, but I didn't make them, and in realty they looked quite similar. Your alterations do make them very distinct, I admit, but forgive me if I don't include them in the final version (I will, however, as I said, fix the irrigation and mining graphics, as those ARE more distracting). I may try to find some subtle but noticeable way to distinguish those units while maintaining dignity, though (going back to the white Zero is one such idea). If anyone has any others, please let me know.

Some more early feedback.
Airborne Warfare [tech] is misspelled.
Kempeitai is misspelled in the readme.
I think that you may have the TBD Devastator and the TBF Avenger reversed. The Devastator dates back to 1935 and it was withdrawn from active service after its disastrous performance in the Battle of Midway in June, 1942. The Avenger went into production in early 1942 and replaced the Devastator.
Your tech tree has the Devastator replacing the Avenger.
The Pearl Harbor event is great but should involve Devastators rather than Avengers. You might also lower the performance of the Devastator: it was a a lousy plane with a top speed of barely 200 mph.
I played with the PH event a bit to see if it can be blocked. The result was an emphatic 'No way". Good stuff.Excerpts from the Manual of the Civilization Fanatic :

In any event you could not have done a worse job than I did in making the things to begin with. Some time before I retired from Civ2 I was going to upload improved and more visually distinct versions but for some reason or another PSP elected to delete all my work. So in the interim, feel free to modify them to make them more recognisable in game. Anyways it was entirely my fault as, had I not been so lazy and created the whole lot from a rubber stamp, it would have not been necessary to do so in the first place.

The reworked Japanese infantry. Tried to increase the variety of poses but my skills, or lack thereof, means that this attempt was largely unsuccessful, since they now all look equally horrendous. Hopefully though they will appear more distinct in game.
Preview here. bmp in next post. All are based off fairline's Chinese Warlord units.Last edited by typhoon; April 14, 2007, 05:13.

Those are beautifully rendered units. Even very senior nitpickers would be hard put to find any nits to pick with them.Excerpts from the Manual of the Civilization Fanatic :
