Well, Curt came up with a killer proposal for units layout, now I've gone on to improvements. I do know that each of the seven civ's will begin with a Wonder to start AND the Manhatten Project (which benefits all five human civ's) will start in play as well. Other Wonders (those that are available) will have to be built, and most will be human-only or alien-only. SDI will only be available for building to the two alien civ's, representing particle beams from orbital spacecraft shooting down ICBM's in flight (but being far too fine in focus to devastate battlefields or cities), but they can't build nuclear weapons. Most other improvements are buildable by human civ's off the bat, but must be researched by the aliens, to represent that they must adapt to Earth (some improvements are unavailable to them even then). Aliens have a fundy gov't, but can't build freight. Humans have either Republic (US, EU, and Russia) or Communism (China and Mercosur), and can build freight. There's some general ideas to update progress on this project.
Since it'll likely take a while to get enough feedback to get EotRS and KW into working order (given the busy nature of this forum right now), I thought I'd put them aside for the nonce (till a steady stream of comments, criticisms, and suggestions start coming in) and continue with this one, which I have a few new ideas for (and still a good list of units by Curt), and hope I can get it into a semblance of a working shape. If there's still interest in this project, or new interest by new members (of which we've had a bunch lately) then please drop a post and I'll relay some of my new ideas and questions.
Bumping this again with my tentative decision to go ahead with this project, I need to take care of a few issues first in this scen. I need to work out how to arrange the tech tree, with Human and Alien techs and new innovations. Also, I've still got Curt's excellent formula for units, which, upon looking it over again, I see no reason to change. I also need to work terrain and resources in an attractive way. I am thinking of only having roads, no RR's (a common sentiment). As well, though only Humans can build nukes, only the Aliens will be able to build SDI (using their orbital craft to duplicate the actual SDI sattellite effect), but they'll have to research it. Each civ will get a unique WoW in their capital, with the Manhatten Project also starting in play, all the rest must be built. Any advice or suggestions are appreciated. I suddenly feel a new energy about this, so I may be able to finish it.
Here's my initial save file with the cities placed. Could someone please examine it for historical accuracy (the Alien landing points/capitals, Antarctic bases, and Indian 'survivor settlements' are not based on modern geographical settlements, so don't worry about them). This .sav file is for ToT. Thanks for any help, people.
