First the disclaimer:
THIS IS NOT MY CURRENT WORKING PROJECT. I'M STILL OFFICIALLY WORKING ON THE KOREAN WAR. THIS THREAD IS JUST TO GATHER INPUT AND IDEAS ON AN INSPIRATION FOR A FUTURE SCENARIO I CAN'T CONTAIN ANYMORE.
That said, I'll continue. I had an inspiration for a dark near-future scifi scen with alien invaders. This is not the CiC scen redone, with the goofy Hodads. It is a bit more serious. It posits things about 30 years in the future. First, there are five human factions.
-North America under a far-right wing fascist dictatorship with strong pseudo-Christian leanings.
-A corrupt South American union under a dictatorship dominated by Drug Cartels.
-An EU which is an economic and political superstate and perhaps the last functional democracy on the planet.
-And an East Asia is dominated thoroughly by China under a bureaucratic, capitalist, authoritarian regime.
South Asia is an irradiated wasteland from an unchecked nuclear war between India and Pakistan, with only a few pockets of civilization left (not a civ).
Then, two distinct factions of alien invaders have landed on Earth, each seeking a different goal. They are the last two civ's. They arrived five year prior to the scen's beginning, and have each established a beachead. These factions are:
-The Alien Conquerors, who have landed in Australia and quickly spread to New Zealand, Oceania, and SE Asia. They're ruthless, cunning, and vicious. Militias in the Outback and jungle guerilla groups in SE Asia and tropical islands carry on the fight for their homes.
The Alien Prophets, who have landed in the Middle East, seeking 'psychic energy' from the 'Web of Human Faith.' They are brutal, but leave many religious structures intact. Though they've stomped most Mideast nations, Iran in their mountains, some Gulf States on the coast, the core of Israel, and parts of Egypt, as well as insurgents throughout, put up a fierce fight.
The situation is a bit more complex than 'War of the Worlds' humans vs. aliens. The five human civ's have little love for each other, and may use the conflict's chaos to settle old scores. And the two alien factions detest each other in the end. I don't yet know when this will get done, but if anyone has any input, please let me know. I'm just gathering ideas at this point.
