yep i used freights, while i was at peace. it was a good deal. i sent them most of them to London, many others to Berlin. capitals are always the best option. i was lucky that many cities demanded what i was supplying.
So, how much did you get from delivering to Longon, on average? Around 500G?

Ah... I though they just make 3 arrows on roads, if they give 2. But with monarchy or communism there is usually 1 trade, so superhighways do nothing. I read there is a trick to boost trade in city just before your caravan arrives there, but I doubt superhighways would have to do with it.

sure, trading ( lot of money ) and rushing. sometimes i disbanded some "obsoletes" units to get extra shields. it is hard to explain, you need to practice to get your own techniques. also there are several tutorials all around the web. but disbanding units is a very a good thing
Yeah, I also disbanded all my Riflemen to build engineers and then some mech inf's.

Anyways, these caravans (together with spies/diplomats and even nukes) create a large disbalance in the game, which becomes very clear in multiplayer, cuz everyone makes use of any gap in the rules he finds. I once bought a city with the whole enemy army (about 15 armors) in a LAN game for just about 500G. So, in case I ever start another game with a human player, I will play without all those units. Or it is just better to play in ancient era, but units move too slowly there...

I kept in mind that you would launch nukes and rushed for the Laser, but without any caravans the discoveries were at a natural rate of 4-5 per turn, even after I built superhighways everywhere. I hoped that MechInfs on hills and with all defenses would stop anything, and maybe this strategy would be viable vs Paleologus with his Bombers and Missiles, but against your tech rush this failed completely.. I imagined you would build a nuke or two (cuz they cost 320 shields, which is about 700 gold, quite a sum. I must admit you know this game is great detail.

Igor, this scenario for MP/Pbems or whatever human player mode game is very ****ty. for that reason nobody plays scenarios that uses original rules.

if you want to test your real skills, you should try for a Pbem a very well customized scenario. there are many around.

there are scenarios where the nukes costs at about 1000 gold. almost impossible to buy.

the use of spies is very annoying, many scen designers decided to delete off the spies from their scens. others only left "investigate city" option just as a recognizer unit.

caravans are good. just i found the exact route, if i was at war, then i'd be totally fuc*ed.

yes sometimes i got at about 500-1000 gold. london under republic and superhighways was very lucrative!!

      btw, nice game

      • What scenarios are your favorites? I would like to check them out.

I think I haven't played any except the WW79, Great Discoveries, and the two supplied with game (Rome and WWII).

is it possible to edit the spy's abilities? Or they just prohibit using other abilities by agreement?

Yes, the game was nice. A lot more interesting than any single player session for sure.
