    Hahahahaha. This oughta be good.

    An item of note. That grey color that inhabits the unit diamonds will have to be made the same color purple as you have outside the unit grid. Otherwise you will get grey diamonds around each unit. Civ2 designates two colors, pink and purple or grey as invisible. You can't have all three.

    Also, as I'm sure someone will mention, if you're using just MS Paint and haven't sprung for the more powerful Paint Shop Pro, you might notice that the units file has only a specific number of colors you can use, called the Civ2 MGE palette. If you have any problems with the graphics let us know as we know just about any problems that can occur.

    Oh, and always make backups. Backups and copies of current files and more specifically, backups on CD or whatever. Many computers have crashed around here, making those agonizing hours of unit creation for naught.

        Hey Folks!

        Just having a slight bit of bother... I seem to understand event files, how to create a tech tree with individual units... but for the love of god I am unable to give each nation's leader his individual title. As it stands, everyone whom I've given the Government Democracy or Dictatorship has the standard generic title that goes with them (Dictator, President). I've gone into the txt file and given the Germans Fuhrer as the title under Dictatorship/Communism, but when I go to 'force government' in the game it simply gives the Germans the generic title of 'Dictator'.

        Help!

          You changed it in the rules.txt? Did you actually make a civilization called 'Axis' and

          e.g.":

          Kubitschek, ..., 1, 2, 3, Brazilians, Brazilian, -1, 1, -1, 4, Archbishop, Archbishop
          the first 6 numbers are of no relevance at the moment, the last one (before 'Archbishop') refers to a government type:

          Despotism = 1
          Monarchy = 2
          Communism = 3
          Fundamentalism = 4
          Republic = 5
          Democracy = 6

          If you want a civilization to have something else but the normal name for a certain type of government, you out the number of that type behind the civilization name, then the male title and the female title.

          For you following would be the thing to put after the Axis civ in the rules.txt:

          3,Führer,Führer

            I've changed the actual rules.txt... but I didn't do this before I started making the scenario. I thought I could do it afterwards... is this the problem?

              I'm not sure of it, since I have no experience on this part, but it's the first thing I thought of...

              you did change the standard names too right?

                The Generic names for the governments? Yes I did that. I also gave individual titles for each government for the specific civilizations in the txt file, but when i go to force government and give them the title it simply bestows the Generic title.

                  IIRC, the info was embedded in the file when you made the scen. Can be changed via the Cheat! menu (Edit King) or hexing.

                              Fortunately I'm still basking in the afterglow of Man Utd's glorious victory over the World famous mighty Wigan Athletic, worthy opponents in the only football trophy that still counts for anything (that's the League Cup aka Carlsberg Cup for you colonial Johnnies), so I'll let that one pass Dave. Don't be fooled into thinking the Champions League, Premier League or FA Cup are more important. Oh, no.

                              These days my quoto of irrational football-related hatred is reserved for Liverpool, as it should for any true Manc. Arsenal are too pityful to have any meaningful contempt for. Gooner Ball indeed!

                                BTW Willhelm, I've made newer and hopefully better versions of some of the units you've chosen. I'll dig 'em out and post.

                                EDIT: Willhelm, did you intend the unit in the last slot of row 1 to be a partisan (ie generated when a city falls)? If so, he'll need to be moved to slot 1 of row 2 I think.
