    Earth Island Institute (email: borneoxATxearthisland.org) has links to him as does Envirolink, but I couldn't find any beyond 2002. If you google Harlan Thompson with Eric Clapton, you'll get two of his UH addresses, but they also seem old (plus I'm guessing one is the one that bounced).

      I tried to email Harlan to let him know about the Dippy, but it bounced back. Does anyone know how to reach him?
      I think his Earthlink addy is the most recent one I know of him... Maybe someone like Locutus or MarkG has a more recent one?

          LOTR pioneered the use of immobile units as impassible terrain, . . . .
          LOTR 4.0 and 4.1 have immobile units that are difficult to kill but nothing like the truly impassable terrain in Gold Gulch and Pomarj.

            Sorry to be a pest Agricola, but can you edit the address to foil spambots? I've seen some evidence that Harlan would like to limit spam. Tech, am I safe in assuming that the UH address is the one you tried? It's good to see some contact beyond 2002!

              I'm pretty certain Harlan's WW2 scenario had impassible terrain, and his Mongol scenario certainly does. I think he was the first to use a 'mountain' unit to restrict movement, a trick which many designers have used subsequently.

                Haven't tried his Mongol scen but his WWII European Theater 2.2 has strongpoints, difficult to kill but certainly not impassable.

                  Yes, that's true. The immobile terrain represented orc infested mountains, not quite impassible. Fair point.

                        These make for interesting insights into some classic scenarios - well done

                        One gripe: why don't you press shift-z when you start out playing a scenario, and before taking a screeenshot which illustrates Alex's ground-breaking art

                            No, Catfish was complaining because you pressed 'cntrl-z' which zooms in rather than 'shift-z' which just normalises the civ screen to your computer's screen resolution. Er, I think I may have mistakenly told you to press 'cntrl' rather than 'shift' last time I dished out this advice....oops

                              Here's what I'm getting at Brian. The top pic is the nasty default resolution chosen by civ; I guess this worked fine and gave a clear screen in the days when 640x480 was the standard computer screen res. Looks pretty sh1tty now though.

                              The middle pic has been normalised to my screen res of 1024x768 by pressing shift-z at the start of the scenario. Looks good eh

                              The bottom pic is the zoomed in cntrl-z view, which Catfish was saying looks pixelated.
