The Altera Centauri collection has been brought up to date by Darsnan. It comprises every decent scenario he's been able to find anywhere on the web, going back over 20 years.

Well it's about 150 hexes from Rome to Karakorum and an onager (or should that be mangonel? ) has move 1. If each turn takes 5 years, that means the onager set out from Rome in about 461AD. That would be about right then

The top pic is the nasty default resolution chosen by civ; I guess this worked fine and gave a clear screen in the days when 640x480 was the standard computer screen res. Looks pretty sh1tty now though.
Nope. The default zoom level depends on the screen resolution. Screen resolutions of 800x600 and lower had the standard zoom level (i.e. Shift+Z) by default, not the ugly one.
You haven't played Civ2 on a 15" 800x600 monitor? What kind of fan are you?

Are you planning on adding any more? I found this to be a neat feature, especially in my rediscovering of Civ2.
Perhaps the first scenario really designed with PBEM or something. I'm too unaware of Civ2 scenario history to truly comment.
But there have to be more scenarios that resulted in a paradigm shift of scenario creation.
Yes, I am - ultimately. There are at least three other scenarios on my list, not including any by Exile or myself. It's one of the many Civ-type things I want to get around to, when I find time. Perhaps after I update my site. Glad you like it.
Exile: no lobbying! It's bad form.
Tecumseh's Village, Home of Fine Civilization Scenarios
Just because someone is interested, I've add another scenario to the Golden Diplomat awards page. It's "Red Front" by Captain Nemo. (surprise!) Check it out here: http://sleague.apolyton.net/index.ph...IPLOMAT_AWARDS
Tecumseh's Village, Home of Fine Civilization Scenarios
techumseh: Onyl thing that bothers me with your LOTR award is that you posted a screenire from an earlier version. In v4 (I have 4.1 btw) he changed the orc graphics and added (IMHO too) many crossings over the anduin in the Minas Tirith area.
"Peace cannot be kept by force.
It can only be achieved by understanding"
A great additional add. Really emphasizes the paradigm shift with regards to, changing of the seasons, and using go to events, to create a tough and determined AI.
Looking at the history of these fabulous scenarios is great. I am eagerly anticipating another add.
So we get to suggest nominations here for the Golden Diplomat Award?
How about an award for the scen that concentrates on battles, with no cities or techs to worry about? Lost Legions comes to mind... .
I've only seen one other scen similar to Lost Legions, which is the Quest for El Dorado. El Dorado in my mind is discounted because the player DOES have a single city, which appeared after a while, and it's a little irritating moving units in that scen for a long boring period. Lost Legions grips your attention from beginning to end, and there is definitely no city for your civ. ( )
