  • Colonialism (II) - The Age of Discovery

    Enjoy this new installment of Colonialism, 12 months after the first release!



    Rules changes:
    -Removed republic, introduce Communism instead. Form of rule now Colonial Imperium.
    -Renamed Castle to Fortress and price lowered.
    -Fixed Fire Ship bug. Fire Ships now destroyed after they have made their attack.
    -Terraforming no longer possible. And now only selected terrains can irrigate/mine.
    -Trade from Centre of Trade raised to 20, ocean terrain to 5.
    -Barracks removed from scenario. Amsterdam only city to have barracks in their cities from start.
    -Ottomans units given ignore city flag.
    -Ottomans have the Sun Tzu wonder.
    -AI and Heathen units cheaper.
    -Asian and Arab warriors more powerful.
    -Improvement prices lowered.
    -Now 100% penalty on production change.
    -Terrain defenses tweaked.
    -Musketeers no longer +50 def versus horses flag.
    -Musketeers now 60 shields. Improved Pikemen now 70 shields.
    -Musketeers now weaker then Improved Pikemen in attack.
    -Ship stats changed to represent their roles better.
    -Only war ships can spot units two spaces away.
    -Caravel now sinks at 'high seas' (exept for the Habsburg/Portuguese one).
    -Habsburg and Portuguese wonders now get obsoleted by certain techs.

    Units changes:
    -Spanish Arquebusiers replaced with new French Knight.
    -Spanish Galleon replaced with English Ship of line.
    -English Galleon replaced with Native Tribal Capitol instead. Placed around the World for a bonus of 200 gold if destroyed.
    -Slaves introduced, given regularly by events.

    In game changes:
    -Weakened Habsburgs and Portuguese. Strengthened the rest.
    -AI defense improved. Most fortresses given veteran status and many new fortresses placed, both AI and human.
    -Lots of terrain changes. Most AI cities now on defensive terrain.
    -Many cities razed, many new cities created or relocated.
    -Removed famine from heathen cities.
    -Removed Cape Blanco, Cape Verde, San Jorge and Cape Agostin from the Portuguese. Made them Trade Post instead (airbase).
    -More Ottoman units are veteran from start
    -Istanbul made virtually impregnable.
    -Ottoman units regenerate in Istanbul.

    Event changes:
    -Lots of new and modified events.

    Graphics:
    -General face lift.

        Istanbul should be named Constantinople.
        Otherwise this looks great!

          I know it's not officially known as Istanbul yet, but since the Turks call it Istanbul and they occupy it, I chose to name it Istanbul. Ever heard the song "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)"?

            The Ottomans' formal name for the city was Constantinople. Istanbul (with Stamboul as a variant) was the popular name, which was not formally adopted until after Ataturk came to power.

            Haven't heard of the song, though. Is this it — Istanbul (Not Constantinople)?

                            Here's the Portuguese world map. They've already found a trade route to India, around Africa. But still there's lots of exploration to do
