    That is a swoon-worthy thought!

Total proliferation of units in a scenario is my dream!

Now it seems to have come true at last...!!!

    But!

Do these units that appear over the traditional limit have
proper status in the game...Do they have links to cities,
or do the appear as 'none' units or such?

Does this file work for sure?
IMHO. it probably does, but we won't know for sure until it has been used to play games and scens. The little bit that I did was an inadequate test for possible side effects.

. . . . . playing Red Front without constantly running out of units.
Sadly, not until we get an MGE version of the nolimit units .exe file or a TOT version of Red Front.

I only had 1 city, but links appear normal, whether the units were created by cheating or by normal building in a city.

It does all appear to work correctly.

But how does this work in Civ2's memory? The space assigned to the units is only big enough for 2048 units (or possibly up to 2050 or 2051 units). After that, the memory seems to be used for something else, though I don't know what. It looks like this patch will just let the new units overwrite that. That could cause problems, depending on what exactly it is it's overwriting, and depending on how much of it it's overwriting.

What is the language used to program Civ2.exe?

How does it allocate memory for a large array such as units? If it is like the few languages that I'm familiar with, the size of the array is declared at the beginning of the program and could be changed by hex editing.

Well here's a simple idea. Didn't Fairline convert Red Front to ToT? The game mechanics should still be intact.

Who is up for testing this (seemingly) massive breakthrough for CIV2?

We need some volunteers, and a working Red Front ToT conversion...!

I'll be doing somewhat of a test in a few days when I resume playtesting Patine's Empire of the Rising Sun. At the start of the scen, I'll cheat the total number of units to around 2048 so that the scen will be played with more than that number.

AFAIK, there is no TOT version of Red Front. Field Marshal Klesh did start making one but abandoned it. RL??

Catfish made a conversion to ToT of Red front 1.4 -

I don't know if the link is on fairline's RF thread?

                  I'll take a look...

So when do we award the Supreme Apolyton Merit Medal to Skyer for this work?

How did "He" get involved in what is a very minor matter for us mere mortals?
