    Yes.

It's a typo. Works perfectly in Firefox, though. I inserted a quotation mark in the wrong place when I changed the link from vB to HTML in an effort to avoid those ****ing redirects. Fat lot of good that did. It's fixed now.

I found the transport relationships myself, so I don't have to worry about that one.

Yes, it would've opened up all sorts of possibilities.

    • Pandora's box

Besides the Cities Information section, what sections of the SAV file refer to the city index number? WoW location table? Anything else?

To make it easier on the player, I'd like to re-order the display of cities in the advisor report windows activated by F1, F4, and F5.

[Edit]Looks like unit home cities is another thing. This might not be worth it [/Edit]

      • Still making progress

Still working on the beast. Some play balance issues came up in January 1917. Seems the Turks were getting overloaded with artillery. Fixed the errant trigger, but that forced me to overhaul the events. Had to shrink them to fit in one file.

Here's a composite of the exploration progress made during the alpha test. In early '16, you can see a lot of movement/exploration into the oases of the Western Desert. In June '16, the Arab revolt starts in the SE corner of the map. In November '16, Lawrence makes his appearance in Wadi Sirhan in modern-day Jordan. If you can see minutae, city colors are orange (Turk), blue (Allies), white (Sanussi), yellow (Ruwalli, an Arab tribe), and bright green (Sa'udi).

Looks like you answered your own question. Sorry for the late reply, but I've just built myself a new rig. It runs like a dream compared to my old machine, but unfortunately Civ2 sends the CPU (and fan) into overdrive (100% usage) even when idle, completely negating AMD's Cool 'n' Quiet software. I'll have to have another go at contacting timbatron.

            • War has been one of the greatest geographers†

              †"Geographical Ideals." Goldie, G.T. Geographical J. 29:1-14 (1907)

@Tech, the Allies only had a rudimentary knowledge of the geography of the theater. In the east, they relied on maps drawn by the Palestine Exploration Fund and the Royal Geographical Society, and sketches by British nomads like Gertrude Bell. These were rarely adequate for military purposes. In the west, most of the desert was unexplored by all but a few traders eager to keep their monopoly.

The EEF spent a lot of effort making maps (RE Survey Companies and the RAF). Many OOB geeks are familiar with the Light Car Patrols and the role they played as forerunners to the Long Range Desert Group of WWII. By 1918, nine LCP's were present in the theater, but only 2 served in Palestine. The remainder were patrolling the lines of communication and exploring (see Deserts, Cars, Maps and Names).

Like Darthveda, I kinda prefer to give a player less than perfect geographical knowledge. Thanks to the hex wizards' inroads , it's not hard to tailor a map's visibility. It seems more than a few Civ2 players can't resist sending a scout into the uncharted wastes. Just thought I'd tempt them a bit.

And yes, I'm updating the biblio part of EA's readme.

@Catfish, that constant tapping of all available CPU resources is a nasty 'undocumented feature' (others might call it a bug) of Civ2. Probably being superstitious, but I wonder if it is linked to occasional crashes of my PSP. Thanks for the Timbatron reference. I rarely visit that forum and had no idea he was hacking at Civ2.exe. Is he now working with ToT? Summer kinda toasty down there, are you a incurable chip lover, or are you trying to save on your electricity bill?

Since you seem to be reading here on occasion, I'll ask something else. Did you once post an offset to where a sav file stores @CIV2 and/or @LEADERS2?

I had crashes using PSP 8.01-8.04. If I remember rightly they were associated with running scripts. The 8.10 patch eliminated the problem.

I contacted him a couple of months ago offering to send a 'lite' version of ToT 1.1 (approx. 7 Mb) so that he could work on the CPU fix. He agreed, but I had trouble sending the files; the e-mails bounced. I sent another e-mail to inform him of the problem. It appeared to go through, but I didn't receive a reply. I haven't followed it up.

The weather's ranged from mild to filthy hot (44°C on New Year's Day). If the motherboard temperature gets too high, I'll simply switch off the machine. Power consumption is a factor, both from an environmental standpoint and its impact on the hip pocket. It certainly played a part in the purchasing decision.

Twice: here and here ( It appears that Thunderfall has cleaned out CFC's upload section, as all my images are gone). Only @LEADERS2 is saved in the .sav file; @CIVILIZE2 is read straight from rules.txt.

                • Tech (or anyone else), do you have room for EAv2? It's close to beta test time. Haven't zipped it, but I know it's about as big as ToT scens get (including several DLL's).

                    • I'm pretty sure you could upload it to the SLeague wiki too. Would be nice if you started your own El Aurens page there, wouldn't it?
You could update the betas to the final version yourself then too.

                      • SLeague has a Wiki?

                        [Edit]
Seriously though, is it appropo to use the SL Wiki for an online readme, like I made for EAv1 Info? Or should I limit it to a single highlights page.

                          • Auf Deutsch?

How would I translate "Tender at Antalya" (as in a U-Boat tender anchored in the port of Antalya, Turkey) to German? "Tender an Antalya"? This is a tech name, so it needs to be short.

                            • "Tender at Antalya". Sounds like a Harlequin novel.
