    Try this Jim:

The New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center tells the story of New York State’s rich military history and the service and sacrifice of its citizens through interpretive exhibitions, public programs, and the collection and preservation of artifacts and archival material related to the state’s military forces and its veterans.

@ Harry: You do not like them, eh?

Btw, here I have a modded Rebel trooper - ripped from a WW2 soldier from Curt´s Dictatot ToT scen. This a start?

No I do like them, but since the battle is on such a relatively small scale I think you should use the big units. More color and it shows off the uniforms more.

          The shields are good too.

Truth be told I like those as well Steph, the colour, shading and positions are all improvments on my mods. I think I understand what exactly you did differently and how you modified the WW2 Infantry. What if I were to try to help you out still using this new style? What that be helpfull or do you want to be in charge now?

This would be an example of the I Corps, 1st Division in the form of the two seperate units done in your new and improved style Steph, the 147th New York and the 2nd Wisconsin respectively. I have to say I love this new style of infantry, I seriously never thought of applying Curt's unit poses to nineteenth century units though. I think I might just convert all the infantry units in Jules Verne to this very same style as well.

In any case let me know if this is to your likeing or if you want to shoulder the unit burden on this project.

Couple of things about the unit graphics: I originally made 1 or 2 ACW troops with their trousers (that's pants to you Yankees) tucked in their socks - this can be occasionally seen in photos but was very much the exception rather than the rule. Most should have just 'pants' and shoes. My Gurkha hat looks out of place on an ACW figure. The peaked cap from my Russian WW1 unit on the Pickett's Division bloke is out of place. Both sides had very few Regimental uniform distinctions by this stage of the War.

Well the shoes and socks issue is one I'm sure can be corrected, as for the hat's Gareth I used the Gurkha hat on the 2nd Wisconsin because I honestly felt the shape and look of the hat best matched the refernce photo attatched below.

Also, I too was surprised to find this reference photo of the 1st Virginia Infantry myself as my first thought was that it looked more like a Russian WW1 infantry than a Confederate regular from the Civil War. Still, it was they're uniform evidently.

@ Fairline: To be frank, I used your WW2 unit as a base for I wanted to have some different unit postures. This was only some kind of "let me try this one out" attempt. I, however, feel like this is not too bad likking a unit after all - though most I did was shameless copying'n'pasting from your respective sarsstock mods.

@ Chris: Wonderful units! I am going to try out some more different positions for these units Whatever you possibly can contribute is highly appreciated

Well I can appreciate what your going for then Steph, if you have your own vision for what the units should look like then thats the definate way they should be.

These were the last of the bunch that I made up based on your mod's, the Mississippi Legion, the 42nd North Carolina Infantry and the 10th South Carolina Infantry.

Actually Steph since your new infantry style blows my old Civil War mods away I'd suggest you go with one of these two fellers here to represent the II Corps, 2nd Division 17th Virginia.

                          In my humble opinion .

A question, Steph, whose answer isn't obvious reading this thread. What are you going to do about the all-important issue of cities? You can't run a scen without them. What will their equivalent in this one be, and what will they be able to build? There's no obvious application for this institution yet mentioned here.

This is a good point, Patrick. I think I will have a couple of landmarks being "cities" owned by a civ or barbs allied to each of the two civs representing the Army of Northern Virginia respective the Army of the Potomac; some landmarks (e.g. the Entrance Gate on Cemetery Ridge) shall be in possession of the Union troops.

Technologies (= reinforcements) shall be given via events, these "cities" won´t be able to actually build anything you could possibly use - this is, after all, a three-days battle.
