    How can I prevent, for example, the Harvesters from gaining the tech Not-Harvester through trade or conquest? I would like to retain tech stealing through conquest in general, although may eliminate negotiations between tribes.

    Oh yeah! how do I eliminate negotiations between tribes? I have seen it done, but the closest I have come is to reset tribes to vandetta, and that never lasts. Guys?

      The closest thing You can do can be achieved through Test of Time I guess

      By events.
      I think it goes this way
      @IF
      NEGOTIATION
      talker=Frogs
      talkertype=human
      listener=Ants
      listenertype=computer (You can use sth like human or c.)
      @ENDIF

      You can not add @THEN part while doing it by events editor, but You can do it manually.

      There's another type of negotiation events in ToT.

        Easy: you don't need to do anything at all!

        Unless I am badly mistaken, "no,no" tech can't be traded or gained through conquest!

            That worked! Finally got the right combination of pre-reqs, including no,no for the NOT-TRIBE techs.

              Than ks Herreson. Following message now appears when the Weaver ants try to talk to the Leaf-Cutter Ants; Do you take us for fools? No sooner would we turn our back on you than we would find your mandibles there.

              Just 7 tribe combinations to go.

                I think You could do it with one event statesment in ToT.
                What version are You using?

                    I don't know. I don't like the lack of events editor. Haven't moved a lot since I've switched to ToT. But it does give many new possibilities.

                      Hey Valmont, saw some of your dinasaurs buried in the speculative graphics showcase. NOw that is some good art! If you're still out there, how aboutr busting some insects out for a newbie?

                      Anyway, I'm having some terrible computer problems related to windows. Anyway, back-ups for civ II are complete and the ant scenario is still comming along well. I give it four weeks to post; nothing compared to the stuff that comes from this site, but pretty darn good I think. Anyway, that egg will get counted soon as it's hatched...

                          Uh, maybe a bit hasty on that 4-week estimate, although still possible. I have been spending more time playing it than working on it.

                          couple major bugs though! game crashes if the barbarians capture one of my cities, although no problems taking cities from other civs. real bummer since the barbarians are a major component of the game. does this sound familiar to anyone? Its going to take a lvl 10 programmer to fix this one maybe.

                          also, game ends alright with a spaceship victory, but nothing happens with a military victory. Maybe alright though, given that the graphics that go with a military victory don&t fit the scenario anyway. would like to have some kind of victory message to celebrate though.

                          going to format my hard drive this afternoon, i could be out of touch for a couple days. i&ll be back though, chk chk chk chk.

                          last; 2 possible names now for the scenario.
                          1- For Queen and Colony
                          2- Empire of the Ants
                          if you guys have more ideas, let me know. promise it will be settled democratically though, even anarchistically.

                            I like 'For Queen and Colony'

                            As for the problem, it could be that the Barbs don't have anything to research... you should make sure that there's some techs that have no prequisites (nil, nil ), and that Future Technology can be reached (the game would crash if some civ finishes all the tech tree and doesn't get anything else to research)

                            Some scenario makers directy give Future Tech no prequisites, so that it's always availiable for all civs and easily solve the problem.

                                Hey guys, i'm back, and the ant scenario data survived formatitng my computer.

                                the new drama; i've been playing with some of the tools from this site, including civcity and civtribe. no probs with civcity. changes that i've made through civtribe are not appearing in the game though, and now changes that i make through the standard editor are generating an 'error saving to rules' message. at the moment i can't seem to make further changes. has anyone seen this before?

                                previous problem of barbarians capturing a human city seems to have been related to some left-over code garbage from an old event tied to capturing a city. taking out the events file solved the problem. have to redo events though.

                                alright, i'm getting back to work...
