Hey Harry, I had a thought that might make the events.txt writing go a little bit smoother. Perhaps you could enlist some writers from the forum to write events generated text lines like Curt did when he was producing Kaiser.

You would of course choose the subject of the text and simply commision the various forum members to compose the text in full. Just a thought to save you some time

I think that I may have found an explanation for the lime green T-28 ( I think that it is actually closer to chickens*** yellow). Unless I'm very badly mistaken, it was taken from the following website:

The site also has 8 excellent views of the T-28 model as it is rotated in 45° increments, just perfect for CIV3.

I definitely agree with what you say. IMO, any self-respecting barbarian and his horse would be long gone by the time a T-28 managed to waddle into range.

I think it's time for a reality check on the T-28.

Its key specs are as follows:

Weight (combat ready): 86,000 kg (95 tons)
Length: 11.13 metres (36' 6")
Width: 4.39 metres (14' 5")
Height: 2.84 metres (9' 4")
Crew: 8 (Commander, Driver, Co-driver, and 5 man gun crew)

1 x 105mm high-velocity gun
1 x .50 Browning MG
Maximum Armour: ~300 mm (11.7")
Minimum Armour: 51 mm (2")

Engine: 410 HP
Specific power: 4.3 HP / ton
Speed: 13 kph (8 mph)
Maximum fording depth: 1.2 meters (47”)

I'm guessing that at 1000 metres its gun could penetrate any armor on a Tiger II or Jagdpanther. That would make it a potent weapon for killing enemy tanks as well as smashing any concrete fortifications . . . . if it managed to get into position.

With a specific power of 4 HP / ton, the T-28 was underpowered beyond belief. By comparison, the M1A1 has a specific power of ~25 HP / ton. The T-28 had about the same performance as one would get by putting the engine from a ride-on lawnmower into a large car. . . . pitiful. Any decent tank would have little difficulty running rings around a T-28 and putting a shot or two up its tail feathers. Ground attack aircraft would find it to be a delightfully slow moving target.

WW2 US Army equipment such as tank transporters, bridging equipment and recovery vehicles were generally designed for vehicles weighing 40 tons or less, completely useless for 95 ton tanks. Unless there was a handy RR bridge or major highway bridge I don't know how one would get a T-28 across even a small and not particularly deep river. Bridges on secondary roads are not designed to carry 95 tons. Neither, for that matter, are secondary roads. In brief, the monster would have caused immense logistical headaches, not to mention the interesting problem of how to retrieve a 95 ton T-28 that was stuck in soft ground or had a damaged power train. IIRC, that was why the US Army was more than somewhat reluctant to adopt the 42 ton M-26 towards the end of the war. Didn't the Germans have to solve such problems by using 3 other Tigers to tow a damaged one?

Hmmmmm, well, I haven't worked out the details to the story yet, so that will have to wait. Though, in the meantime, I do need some artwork done. Some city view ideas and graphics would be nice.

Well, remember how in AE I I had the windows of Civ2 done up in a nice dark skull motif? And how Catfish has worked on some nice city view screens with nice crisp windows and graphics? That's what I mean.

Sorry, but I'll have to disagree with this. One of the best things about the first AE was the quality of writing that went into the events, especially in the first part of the scenario. The writing grabbed me like in no other scenario; I really did feel caught up in this nightmarish world. It superbly evoked the atmosphere of troublesome times ahead.

I'm not saying that there aren't many fine writers in the SLeague, but this is Harry's baby and I think he's best able to describe what this world is like. Therefore I'd like to see Harry do all the writing.
