  • Sarrstock, do you think you could rummage up some flags?

    I need:

    United States
    Commonwealth of Canada (1948 era)
    Nazis
Generic Nazi Flag (for the S. American allies)
    Mexico (1948 era)
    Generic Carribean Flag

If your scen runs the usual ~100 turns and a turn is 2 weeks, then the period covered would be '47 to '51. As St Laurent was PM for most of that period, your idea certainly makes excellent sense.

Too bad about WLMK. He was one of our regrettably few eccentric PM's . . . . ruins by moonlight, talking to the spirit of his dead mother, the whole spiritualist bit.
I'll bet that could be made into couple of very unusual events.

      • Well Harry I already have most of your flags and shields ready but first I have to ask a question about the German flag. Do you want it to look like the traditional Nazi flag along the same lines of the one you used in the first Atomic Eagle or has the flag undergone some changes? I ask because the shields you already provided were jet black, and put me in mind of Curt's flag of the Eternal Reich in Vendetta.

Also, about the generic Nazi flag for their South American allies. Do you want this south American flag to have any Nazi symbolism at all or should it be clear of any?

Also, for the record I too support Louis St. Laurent for Prime Minister of the Dominion of Canada.

Ok good, I have both you and Agricola's support on St. Laurent.

As for the Nazi flag why don't you you "update" the flag with something of your choosing. Include a little black, but make the flag predominantly red.

For the South American allies I think the flag should follow the same lines, but just make the symbol a silver eagle to symbolize fascism.

Also, just for to make the flags more identifibale could you make them 2D, instead of the usual ruffling in the breeze?

          Tank' you very much.

          • Now when you say not to make them ruffling in the breeze Harry, do you mean not to use shading, not to make the flag slanted on a 15 degree angle or both?

Well don't make the flag slanted. Just make it flat, in a square, with no shading.

              • Ok I need a city check.

                I have:

                72 American cities
                12 Nazi Allied
                14 Free Mexican
                8 Free Carribean
                10 Nazi
                15 Canadian

Total: 131 cities on the map

What should be moved, what should be added?

                  • Nice placement, Harry!

The Axis are going to be up close and personal from the start.

You are going to have some Events work needed to keep the Axis AI moving along.
Perhaps some high-cost, immobile units will entice the Reaper's forces to go where they must go!

Great work, and I assume the large dead area is for the AI reinforcements, etc?

Thank you. Yeah the dead area is for reinforcements and also to scale down the map. I'll place my "super" American cities there.

                      • I hope to get rid of traditional railroads and use roads with a high movement rate for this one. The interstate highways hadn't been built by this time and the main transportation around North America was still the railways so I hope to replicate actual routes.

                        • Here are a few suggestions about the map.

There is no h at the end of St Petersburg. A more accurate location for it would be on the forest+silk square SW ot its present location.

However, at the time of AE, St Pete wasn't much more than an oversized town whereas Tampa Bay was on the RR, had an ocean port, MacDill AFB (est. 1941) and was a much larger city. You may want to consider a switch. An accurate location for TB would be immediately SE of the present St Pete.

Of course, if you wanted to be truly objective, you could leave St Pete where it is. Just rename it Clearwater, a much nicer place than the bloody tourist trap to the south and definitely worth defending.

I think that there should be more of the cities that formed the American industrial heartland in the 40's and 50's. Toledo OH, Columbus OH, Dayton OH, Akron OH, Youngstown OH, Allentown PA and Erie PA were all industrial powerhouses at the time of AE. They now may be part of the rust belt but all still have numerous abandoned industrial plants that hint at the vast quantities of war material that they turned out in WWII.

Unless you are a devout Packers fan, would you consider replacing Green Bay and Madison with Milwaukee and Minneapolis-St.Paul, respectively? The latter two were major cities (>500k pop.) in the 1940's while the the first two did not even make the list of the 100 largest US cities in '40 or '50.

The map is amazingly accurate. I checked the distances between a few cities and they came in bang on.

Thanks for the tips John. Minneapolis is already represented, but I will include Milwaukee and a few of the Ohio cities. I know what you mean about the industrial powerhouses, I live west of Cleveland not to far from the "IX Center" at the airport. During the war it was the largest tank plant in the U.S. as well as one of the largest buildings constructed.

Does anyone have a problem with scrunching some of the cities together? That was the reasoning behind leaving out Milwaukee.

I already changed St. Petersburg's name last night, but your right, Tampa was the larger city. I'll make the change.

And I'm a Browns fan, at least I'm trying to be

Also, does anyone know what Kansas city the big B-29 plant was in?

                            Merry Christmas everyone!
