  • Atomic Eagle II: The Price of Freedom Development

This thread will follow the development of Atomic Eagle II: The Price of Freedom.

As was metioned in this thread the sequel will take place primarily in North America with the Nazis driving up from Mexico into the American Heartland. Playing as the Americans, your job is to repel the evil Nazi threat from your borders. Gameplay will be similar to Red Front. And yes, it will be in MGE format. I'm not that knowledgable in ToT yet, and I'd like to not learn while building this scenario, but I am very knowledgeable with MGE, so expect something good. As I said before, I have learned from my mistakes with AE I.

First things first, I need a map.

    The Map:

It will be of lower Canada, the U.S., Central America, and the top left of South America, including the Major Caribbean islands. I would like to include Panama in the scenario as an American holdout against the Nazi push from Colombia.

The terrain squares that are normally jungle and glacier will be exchanged for "super terrain" squares which will represent high shield or high food areas, located in major food producing or high industrial areas of North America.

    I need partners:

As with Gold Gulch I need partners to help me build and complete the scenario. Namely, I need people who want to create a unique scenario and those who will enjoy doing it. I have no real time constraints on the completion date, so really, there is no rush to finish things. Any help on any aspect of the game is welcome.

Sarsstock did say he was up to making a title for the scenario. Sarsstock, if you would do one, I would only require that it be glossy and worthy of a "C" or possibly "B": movie poster. Something with lots of old American WW2 propaganda in it, maybe featuring Uncle Sam and some outlandish "Your children are in danger!" posters. Try this website out: http://www.carrothers.com/billyboy/posters.htm

Again, if anyone would like to take on any aspect of this scenario they are more than welcome to it.

Harry I accept your request. I'm imagining two possible title.gif's. One is of a monsterous Panzer Tank and her crew driving down a muddy road at night with the glow of fire over the horizon as jet fighters roar overhead, passing a road sign labled..... "New York City" or something to that effect which would help hit home the fact that the Germans were on American soil and aiming to stay.

The other option is of American soliders pressing forward through the ruins of some great American city and onward to victory, or something to that effect which would remind Americans that its their duty to never surrender, even in the face German invasion.

I can have a go at some units Harry, backlog-permitting.

Make it in ToT, you know it makes sense

If it was to be made in ToT - There would be no lack of willing helpers to advise and provide killer graphics!

This I like. It sets the mood without being too flashy. I like the idea of putting New York City on the sign, as this actually opens up a new idea for the scenario. Thanks Sarsstock, this title sounds great.

@ Curt & Fairline: Alright you bastards. I'll take a look at the ToT files and think about it...

Come on guys, if Harry wants to help keep interest in MGE alive then I say more power to him!! However Harry if you feel that there are just to many restraints on MGE then I can live with that as well.

There is no pressure - Harry's work rocks on any format.

But there is no better way to learn ToT than making a scenario with it!

I am learning new stuff every week!

Jim, I did, and I think I'll use it with some slight modifications.

Here's a preliminary units grid. ToT or not, these will be the bulk of the units.
