Is there an accepted list of default rules?? I do not believe I have ever seen such a thing. Prose discussing no-no's yes, but no actual list. Was this a decided thing from back in the very old days??

I think he means the rules.txt file. If so here it is (I'm pretty sure this is an unmodified version).

Ok, thanks. Yes, that was what i meant.

And btw, no need to zip them, as poly allows .txt's

Hej people , who knows what is this - my spy can't do anythong with city. When I press him to go on a city , instead of menu nothing happens ! Whole my strategy is based on stealing tech ....

Read the Dips&Spies thread in the Great Library. There's something about stealing only one tech from any one city. Have you stolen from that city before?

I would like to ask the same question. Is there a set of game rules for this tournament other than no black clicking or helper programs? What about cheats and tricks like those listed in Ming´s thread?

Certainly most if not all of them should be banned. Same is true for the list of CFC for GOTMS, which I find quite good (with the exception of allowing caravan rehoming of cause).

Rev. 1.08 26Jul02 - Moved Notes & Revision History to next post because newly added links rapidly approaching the 15,000 character post limit; wording clarifications on some FCT items; Added asterisks to #10 & #11; Added #32 (OCC & Paulicy); Added #33 - Zero Turn Revolution (by Xin Yu via SL)...

The above was from another thread. I have always assumed that incremental rush buying was OK. Do we have any house rules on the subject?

Gads, I hope not - if that is a no-no, we should toss most of the games here. If you're going to get picky about that, why not rule out ship chains and precharging settlers?

As to cities with wonders. Make it a rule that it can not be bribed or captured. I intend to do just that. You can check with F7 to see if a prospective capture has one. Since this is a fast spaceship win objective, conquest of all cities is not necessary.

All right ! I've done it.
It was deam hard , I'd like to say.
Romans and Egiptians were overruned imediately.
Deam , those agressive Sioux slowed me ...
I stormed their capital only at 1700 bc.
By this time Germans were ready to set their New World Order. I had nothing - no army , no GNP , only small kingdom... and then I discovered Republic ! After few turns I was already Democrate.
It was really stompee !!! It was kind of risk - I sacrifised to germans many units - that was my price of war...
1970 - I developed Robotics...That's all folks ! Now I am fundametalist... Deam I really regret that I can't use Communist mode cuz it would be considered as a cheat ! Anyway , I put on Holly War (Soviet 2nd WW song) and my 10 Howitzer and 8 Tank units overcame German border... It was REAL holy war ! =))))
1990 - German Capital is taken. Germnany divides into Germany and India.
By 2000 last German city fell.Hurray ! Now this 1 Indian city (with the size 3) couldn't build Spaceship.
                      2008. Spaceship launched. Estimate time - 2020 .
                      Right on time !

I forgot to mention , that I still can't use spies even starting new game =(

I know that rule. But my problem is that spy menu don't appear at all (I mean menu where "Incinerate Revolt" , "Visit City , Steal tech). When I press him coming on a city , NOTHING HAPPENS. Like e.g. when you try to attack air units with units that can't do this , nothing happens ! All their functions are forbidden !

                          Come play some Civ!!

Probably, but hopefully not, I am writing in an echo chamber here and not many other folk are coming by for a looksee any more. But if anyone is on the fence about playing in this game, let me encourage you to jump in.

I have been plugging away a bit more than a week now and this game is a blast!! It is so refreshing to have to rethink the old habits. Hat's off to Mark for coming forth with this no-wonders game.

So, pick up the game and discover anew the majic allure of Civ2.

Caravan rehoming is precisely what I enjoy in GOTMs... for a change.

Glad to hear that, La Fayette! You almost damaged the picture of my hero playing always with the toughest rules!
