@Jim Panse, actually, if you want to provide a really good unit, how about a good NV/VC infiltrator (essentially a spy unit to monkey with South Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Laotian cities and units, where the US, as a Democracy whose unique unit advances are prerequisites no no, would evade the worst effects {except sabotage and water poisoning in their bases}). It's an idea I've been toying with, but I need a good unit graphic. If you could cook one up, I'd appreciate it.

I would gladly assist in this matter, Sir! You got any basic ideas HOW such a chap should look like?

Btw, what about some police unit like in Andrew Living's Crises scen? An unmoveable unit with - compared to regular military stats - poor defence but the spy flag?

I think, on the actual infiltrator, he should be dressed as a Vietnamese peasant, maybe with a handcart. A police unit, too, is a good idea, and should resemble a South Vietnamese police officer, if you could draw me up that too. Thanks a lot for your help!

I need just one more unit graphic, if I could, to take advantage of a hypothetical situation in the war that could easily have happened. I need an immobile Soviet Embassy unit. You see, it would be placed in Hanoi at the start. During actual US bombings of North Vietnam, according to a source of mine, the Soviet Embassy came close to being hit on several occassions. I thought that if, while the US is bombing Hanoi, the Soviet Embassy comes up as the defender (by that mysterious algerithm that chooses who defends for a given attack) and is thus destroyed, some Soviet 'volunteers' and MiG-25's arrive in Hanoi under North Vietnamese control (I already have good graphics for those), which would be just as powerful as US General Infantry and one of their main air units. What do you think?

I think it's a good idea. Maybe the unit could be recreated after being destroyed, to represent the Soviets sending a new diplomatic mission to Hanoi. This might also discourage an American player from being overly aggressive in their bombing of the North. Are you going to include random creations of units from the Peoples' Republic of China to represent Chicom aid, like MiGs or a more heavily equipped NVA unit?

Essentially, China will be its own player in an unbreakable alliance with the North Vietnamese, with strong advice to be a computer player, and will have certain units it can build, as well as the ability to trade with the NVN. It thus might well declare war on the US and/or the South Vietnamese the first time each attacks an NVA/VC unit, but it's peripheral location and limited choice of units amounts to effectively Chicom-level of aid, just under AI control.

Ok, sounds good. One other thing I was thinking about (after watching something on the history channel, lol) was whether it would be worth giving a large number of US units paratroop capability to go some way towards acknowledging the factor that US air mobility played in Vietnam... just a thought

Oh, and could someone please also cook me up a MiG-21, preferrably in the style presented in that unit collection near the top of this thread (complete with being white with red accents with a red star hovering to the side, like the other North Vietnamese aircraft on it). I'd greatly appreciate it.

On the note of paradrops, I think that it would be the best way to reflect air mobility. Thanks for the suggestion!

I made a US Marine unit, basically just modified from the previous 'grunt' unit. I gave him an M14 and attempted to show him wearing the marine body armour.

                        Enjoy!

Thanks a lot, guys. Now all I really need is the infiltrator, police unit, and Soviet embassy (if that wouldn't be too much trouble), and I think I'll be set. If either or both of you could provide, I'd be most grateful. Thanks!

I had a go at a Vietnamese National Police unit (found a picture of their uniform at http://www.geocities.com/militarypol...am/page16.html ). I wasn't sure whether you wanted Vietnamese Military or Civil Police. If you'd prefer Military Police, all I'll have to do is modify the helmet on the 'grunt' unit.
