    Thanks Curt!

Like I said, I am quite adamant to part with my money for another copy, as its only to replace one corrupted .exe. Perhaps this No-limits ToT thingy is just what I need. Thanks again!

As with the other versions of Civ2, there's no definitive scenario-making tutorial, but instead a number of guides. However, most of the stuff you've learnt from making FW/MGE scenarios also applies to ToT – after all it's just the latest version of the same game.

There are some good guides in the Scenario League's Tips section and The Cradle of Civilization's Guide section. The additions to the events macro language are explained in the macro.txt file (found in the main Test of Time directory).

One method to get you started might be to do what Fairline did and convert one of your own MGE scenarios to ToT using CivConverter and then have a play around. After conversion, open rules.txt from the Original directory, copy everything after the @ATTITUDES section and append it to the end your converted rules.txt file. There are a few new options under @COSMIC, too – add these if you want. You can then experiment with some of the new rules options. If you have any queries, ask in the forums.

Yes it is. We had an agreement from Mercator (in blood) that he would also add masking to SpriteGen, but apparently he's too lazy busy at the moment. SpriteGen allows you to easily hide the health bar (you can also do it in CivSprite by increasing the height of your unit bitmaps – but it's much more work – just ask Boco); it also uses only one frame per unit (as opposed to 5), so it's much less time-consuming if you're using single-orientation unit icons - the most common situation. Of course, the file size is much smaller, too. The 5-frame CivSprite format (and remember we're talking about static.spr here) is incompatible with the single-frame SpriteGen format, so if you've got ideas about using both, think again.

        @Typhoon:

Just because civ2.exe is generating the error, doesn't necessarily mean that the file is corrupted. Have a look through CFC's Technical Support Forum, you might find a solution there.

Typhoon... I had problems with ToT as well some time ago. It would basically crash on start up, or when loading a game. The problem has gone away now, but I don't really know what fixed it. I'm thinking that it might have to do with other programs you're running. Try re-installing ToT, re-installing the v1.1 patch and/or shutting down all other programs when running ToT, including your Internet connection,

I actually started on that, but I never got beyond designing the interface. I don't know if it ever will get any further either due to my ever declining interest in Civ2.

I'll second everything else Catfish said about sprite editing, with one extra caveat. Adjusting the unit height (to hide the health bar) also affects the position of the fortified and fortress graphics. This thread goes into more detail about that:

Of course I was only kidding anyway. Unfortunately, you're not the only one with a declining interest in Civ2. I haven't worked on my War of the Ring scenario for weeks - and prior to that short period of work, hadn't touched Civ2 to any great extent for months.

I'm up late... just watched Ryan Bayley (Aus) beat some character called Theo Bos for the gold medal in the men's sprint (cycling).

Ah yes, I missed that, but I knew he was in the final. Then again, I'm Belgian, so what do I care.

... Well, OK, I actually do care, because Belgium is next to worthless as far as medals is concerned and I've never actually lived in Belgium. Not to mention the Belgian public TV decided to create a special sports channel just for this busy summer. Great! Except I can't receive the bloody channel in Holland, so I have to make do with the Dutch and English coverage (and occasionally German and Spanish).

Up late indeed! I remember doing that back when I was younger... like, last month.

Let's turn this into an OT discussion! To hell with Civ2!

Um, I mean, how about an Olympics scenario for ToT?

Don't worry, he's probably on the juice, anyway. There's currently a bit of drug cloud over our sprint cycling team - especially in regards to former world champion Sean Eadie (the bloke with the atrocious goatee beard).

I own ToT and I think it's the best Civ of all!

Fairline's and Captain Nemo's units which were recoloured and reskinned by Catfish are the best Civ graphics I've ever seen Would be great to see a ToT scenario using 24-bit colour units

I have ToT... somehwere in here. Only I've never tried it. I have spent most of my Civ2 time on Civ2 + Conflicts + FW. Recently I got an MGE disc.

So indulge me - why should I try ToT (assuming I can find it)?
