Never got the hang of ordering a pint in Glasgow. Is it 'a pint of heavy' or an '80 shillings' (40 shillings?) you're supposed to ask for? I ended up drinking lager Nice city though...

@Agricola: is that guy at CFC the person who made a much earlier 'How Few Remain' scenario? IIRC it used stock graphics and wasn't terribly good.

      Yep!

Along the riverfront in a charming little town that was once a prime target for the Luftwaffe!

[SIZE=1] I'm probably going to be spending the next five years here; I'm "studying" medicine at the University of Glasgow (the best medical school in the UK according to the Times) but I seem to spend more of my time sleeping off hangovers than sitting in lectures.
      Another student - Like me!
I am Paisley University too - Doing a BA honours in animation.

I seem to spend most of my time trying to get meshes and nightmarish riggings to work!

[SIZE=1] I've only been here a month but I'm loving it. Nights of debauchery at The Shack and The Garage, taking in a movie on the top floor of the world's tallest cinema, Scottish girls... the list goes on; Glasgow has it all!
Glad you are liking it here!
I am sure you have met Glasgow's other wonderful export - The Neds!

      @Fairline:
At a bar, what many Glasgow natives here do is point at their
mouths and make a noise like a zombie from 'Dawn of the Dead!'

Apologies for the off-topic discourse by me!

        PS
The scenario is being put through it's paces right now -
'Lean and mean' is what I can say about the units!

        Very nice!

        Good work -
I feel a similar challenging gameplay aspect as the United Irish scenario!

Yes. What Mondas did was to make a How Few Remain trilogy under the name Timothy Fowlkes, where the first scen took place at the same time as our_man's.

Mondas' scenario is a stock Civ2 scen where the only thing changed from vanilla Civ2 graphics files is the UNITS file. . . . no tech tree, research or events.

By contrast, in our_man's scen, every graphics file is custom designed and there is a tech tree, research and events.

IMHO, there is absolutely nothing in Mondas' scen that any self-respecting designer would want to plagiarize. It's pure boilerplate Civ2.

What bothers me a lot in all this is that, once it was established that it was groundless accusation of plagiarism, the moderator at CFC did nothing about it except close the thread after your post.

            Tell me about it...

I have to pass along Maryhill Road (or as it's known to us, 'Scaryhill') on the way to my halls of residence. Not the most charming of places, and I've heard that they're places in Glasgow that make Maryhill look like Paris in comparison! But I've learned the essentials to survive in Glasgow:

            1. Never, ever go out in a Celtic/Rangers jersey. If you must go out in football attire, wear a Partick Thistle shirt. Then everybody will take pity on you instead of beating you up.

            2. Don't go into Kelvingrove Park on your own at night. Something bad will happen. Think of a happy place...

For those of you not familiar with Glasgow, Ned stands for non-educated delinquent. Easily spotted by their white Kappa clothing, obscure dialect, bottle of Bucky, vacant expression somewhere between simmering violence and confusion over how to tie shoelaces.

Glad you like the scenario Curt.

BTW, I'd like to thank both AGRICOLA and Harry Tuttle for sticking up for me over there. I happened to take a look at the thread at Civfanatics this morning; you didn't have to involve yourselves, but you did. I you guys.

Ahem, maybe getting a bit too sentimental. But it's really great to know that people in the community will go out of their way to support you if they think you're being wronged.

                Thanks again guys!

                  Oh please

                  It's just a website.

Not to mention CFC's Civ2 section is arguably more active than here at Apolyton. The only thing in which ACS royally beats CFC is scenario development threads.

Hey no problem Our_Man. The guy seems to be immature at best and has to use his scenarios to prop up his ego. You "threatened" his little claim with your version so he just had to lash out. What a loser.

Yeah well, I'll make the argument that modding is more important than "1000 ways my pikeman beat your armor" compilations.

And as for combined knowledge with experience, Apolyton has a trump card over CFC.

Wait a minute. Didn't Harry make a version of this scenario a couple of years ago?

Dammit! You found out that I'm really Mondas! My cover is blown!

No, actually the only scenarios I've published are:

                            1) A really loose interpretation of the novel trilogy "Oath of Empire" - Roman scenario, had some neat barbarian hoard events and graphics ripped from Civ3.

                            2) Atomic Eagle

                            3) The soon to be Gold Gulch

                            - I was working on a economic based fantasy scenario, but that's on hold and will probably be redone in a different form.

                            That's about it.

I was just thinking - I ought to thank Mondas for the extra publicity he's after giving my scenario! Both Curt and Smiley might not have played it if it hadn't been for this incident! I guess what they say is true - there's no such thing as bad publicity!

Gentlemen, why don't we put this one to bed?

Since I first saw it, I've considered part of Case's sig to be the ultimate wisdom.

Arguing with anonymous strangers on the internet is a sucker's game because they almost always turn out to be - or to be indistinguishable from - self-righteous sixteen year olds possessing infinite amounts of free time
That's who we're dealing with. If anyone downloads both scens, they will see that the only similarity is in the titles. Mondas has apologized. Let's leave it at that and get back to what we enjoy about Civ2 and this forum . . . designing, doing artwork, playing etc.

Personally, I'm grateful that this thread has changed two anonymous names into two live Glaswegian students. Best of luck to both of you.
