Hey everyone, got a little update for you. Here are the units in progress. I am doing my best to use Fairline's style as he has really captured the 19th century extremely well. My process has been cut and paste some of his civil war units to make some regular "civilian" units for use in this rough and tumble saloon town. After cutting and pasting I've added a few touches of my own to finish the unit off. I've also been using Exile's Imperialism unit.gif as a starting point so as to get in the right frame of mind.

As you can see, I have included some of Eivind's units for the prostitutes and one or two of Nemo's horse drawn wagon units.

I have encountered a bit of writers block at the moment and have decided to ask everyone as to their ideas of units to add to the scenario. I'm thinking that a few "famous faces" need to appear.

        Any suggestions?

Oh, and the saloon "shields" I am hoping to replace with custom made saloon owner units. I just have to actually make them first.

          The five owners are:

The Bloon Moon Saloon: Tye Oliver
          The Golden Nugget: Al Sergander
The 5 Star Saloon: Dan Dougherty
The Double Diamond Saloon: Jack Dawson
The Royale Inn Saloon: Rapier Royale

Just thinking aloud here, but how about each of the civs represent a character in the town? The 'sherriff' civ can build a posse and is the enemy of the 'outlaws' civ. Maybe have a civ for a rancher, with access to cattle upgrade-type techs, one for the saloon owner who can build prostitute 'spies' to steal techs and money from the other civs; the outlaws can't build so have to attack the other civs for money. You get the picture

Well, I'd like to maintain the saloon owner persona for the civs. That way the style of play won't be to different for each player in a multiplayer game.

I am going to use the cattle idea though. My mountains in terrain2 have just been turned into fences and I plan on making or finding a good longhorn and a rancher unit. They can be barb units with a bonus going to the player who "steals" a longhorn. Of course, the rancher will have a high powered rifle to discourage that practice.

Also, I made some nice cemetary flavor goodies for the special mountain terrains.

                    Wow, this is fun.

Thanks guys, little by little it's getting done. Playtesting will definately happen, but I can't pin a date right now.

Cavalry. They will be a continuous nuisance to your illegal settlement. Damn Washington politicians!
