I know, this comes a bit late, but I just have to congratulate you to this excellent 495 AD landing. This is the new offical record on a random generated medium map and the starting position wasn´t even as good as in ELG #3.

after this long break your premillenium landing is a great achievement! Congratulations, too!

My own game is sitting half played on the computer. At the moment I don´t feel like finishing it, may be some time later.

Thanks Zenon. I believe the bonus of railed SSC trade routes tipped the scales in favor of this start. In ELG #3, there were not any AI on the same continent, akthough in that one the SSC site was superb as were trading opportunities and AI help in learning techs.

Each EL game requires a lot of work and effort, so I'm not surprised you are also a little tired of that style. Early conquest has become very interesting now. I'm sure there is more that can be learned to speed up the process.
