    • War with Italy!
As Germany's brave young men fought to provide stability to the Adriatic coast, the tyrannical regime in Italy has declared war on the Reich. Upon hearing the news, Kaiser Wilhelm declared "This stab in the back will not go unpunished. Give treat our European neighbors with respect and expect the same. Italy will not receive a chance to make this mistake again."
Chancellor von Hötzendorf immediately made moves to establish a unity government, nominating arch-conservative Junkers to many positions in the War Ministry, and placing social democrats in economic positions in order to quickly and efficiently give the government control of the economy during this national crisis.
Von Hötzendorf says that Trieste is expected to be attacked next month, but not especially severly. He predicted that the Italians will simply send a division or two to their deaths outside the walls of Trieste and call of their attack. Von Hötzendorf promised immediate counterattack.

              • Official protest to the UK.

Japan is very sad to see the straits of Malakka closed by British ships.
Japan is very angry to see British Warships obstructing free naval trafic around Osaka!

Until further notice, Japan's markets are closed for British goods, and Japan's territorial waters (a full two squares around all Japanese Islands) are closed for any British ships. British ships of War within the 200 mile economic zone (six squares) will be watched with great suspicion (sp?).

The new British prime minister appears to be much more arrogant then it's predecessor. His contempt for civilized conduct in regard to national integrity and to Freedom of the Seas does not bode well for the future. Japan's Navy will defend its waters if the British blockade will endure.

Osaka is greeted by the new British prime minister

                Official plea to te USA:

We had hoped you would have responded to our request last turn for the Republican tech. Alas it has not been so. We are open for suggestions what Japan will have to do to join the Republican club, as has once been US-policy. We are even willing to accept the initial offer you made.

"The closure of the straits of Malaka and the naval traffic of Osakas has been an error. The almirant was not paying attention and Great Britan feels very ashamed of what has happened. We apologize and we offer a compensation to Japan: the next two years (until 1872) are free to recieve trade from Japan without any tax to be payed."

                  • French Republic Declared

The underground movement launched by the dissident PinkyGen Letrec has finally suceeded, and a new French Republic has been declared. The jittery market has calmed down, and it it is hoped all food and disorder problems will vanish with the coming of may.

Trade Booms with America, Britain, and Japan

In Japan two trade convoys are delivered, including sugar that was very much in demand in Tokyo.

As with all trades, once the freight has been dropped off, the merchants may begin their long journey home, though still in search of profit.

Japan is very happy to see the Osaka incident has been nothing more then an error in navigation. Maybe Japan could supply Britain with new maps of the coastal waters of Japan?
An envoy will be dispatched to Britian soon to initiate a new round on a trade treaty.

                          • Germany does indeed remember her agreements with the Republic of France, and she needn't worry that they will be violated.
