For the third or fourth time: it increases the number of beakers you need to get, which therefore affects science from BOTH trade units and conventional research.

Just wondering because if we are going to try this and it works, it would be nice if we could actually recreate it.
I have it, and I think I posted it on the CDG game; if you need it just let me or Yaro know.

I dunno, it seemed to be a standard one. I found it in Yaro's sig.

          • Japan eagerly awaits replies from various countries on Trade-agreements.
(Russia, since it doesn't seem to be imperative to get any agreement this turn, I played on.)
Talks with France, Germany and Britain are in progress, but no deals were made yet. The US will respect Japan's position, although it does not share Japan's views.

The American CivDip offer presented to Japan is welcomed with great enthousiasm, but we could not (yet) accept the package deal that was offered. Our ambassador in Washington will be send with a clarification to the State Department within a few days at the latest.

The Science advisor to the Emporor has been sacked and committed sepuku shortly afterwards, when it was revealed that his estimate that new economic theories (that could boost Japan's wealth) would not take a mere six month to complete, but would it fact take a full two years to be anywhere near-ready for implementation.

The Japanese consul in Manilla had a much heated talk with the Spanish Governor. The feeble Spanish Empire was hoping to stash its state coffers with hard earned Japanees money, but we would not have this obvious blackmale:
Japanese marines on exercise in the straits of Taiwan were then immediately dispatched to the Philipines, and they are beseiging Manilla as we speak. Merchant vessels were confiscated by the Japanese army and are being use as troop transports.

The Imperial Japanese Navy has been put on highest alert with British warships patroling the waters north of Taiwan.

Tension rises in the waters around Taiwan, Marines beseige Manilla

Japanese Goods have been sold on the Chinese markets for a hefty price. Japanese-Chinese trade is expected to boom over the next few months.

            • Pinky, why on earth didn't you land units in the Phillippines on your first turn? Based on troop placements France should get them first in any game (unless you had an arrangement with Japan).
              Unbelievable!

I most unequivocally didn't get it. All I have are PM's from you and Steve about trade agreements.

                    • France has earned the eternal gratitude of Japan for so gallantly leave Manilla for us .
France is a very gallant nation, and its ruler is most wise and benevolent.

Whenever the French Emporer will set foot on Japanese soil, or any of his envoys, Japanese hospitality will know no limits, and many Geisha's will do honour to Japan's gratitude.

                        REVOLUTION!!!!

We wish nothing but the best of luck for the brave Japanese as they tackle the Spanish menace. Their have been suggestions that the French nation too should deal with the Spanish, when the time arises.

However, that time is not now, as revolution has engulfed the countryside. Napolean III had an unfortunate meet in with one of our old French inventions, the guillotine. It appears he will not be seeing any "geisha's soon, but all future leaders of the French Empire hope that the offer will stand for them as well.

                        Military Action off Morocco
It seems as though the Arabs have tried to take advantage of France's internal dissent to expel France from North Africa. However, the defenses still remain organized, and the French military has the situation in check. Coastal bombardment has already destroyed one Morrocan cannon regiment, and ground troops have begun to lay siege to Casablanca.

More ominious are reports of movements by the natives in Asia.

French troops also raided a villages in Africa.

                        Trade Report
Unit landed outside London. Due to the revolution, the owner of the caravan has been "eliminated" and the merchant wishes to acquire a new buyer for the goods before proceeding into the city.
