We've (I've) got a problem guys. I was just installing civ IV on my laptop which I will need to play while at our place in Florida in March. It won't load properly.

I'm getting an error message telling me that movies are not installed properly.

have you tried un- and reinstalling?

which movies are the problem? when starting up or during the game?
maybe try editing the ini-file to

; Set to 1 for no in-game movies
NoMovies = 1

the movies at the start are the problem -- or at least the first problem

could you guide me to the ini file. i cruised through but didin't see it right away.

unzip it and follow the instructions i sent you with it.

however, i immediately got stuck again. i could not access the latest patch. (clicking on that item in the command list froze the computer.)

looks bad. if you guys want to get a substitute, it's fine with me. will continue to mess with it meanwhile.

yeah, i would have proposed that too.

but seeing that the patch is not available, that pretty much must mean that the release of the next one is imminent. it was so the two w last times

anyhow, we won't abandon you before we are not certain that you cannot continue!
