I'd been watching this particular model for a while (hard to find a dedicated graphics card in an affordable laptop) and it finally went on sale when the XP models were displaced by the new Vistas. So I got it for cheap and I hear when I want Vista they can send it to me for free.

i'm sympathising with the idea of buying a Core2Duo machine (but desktop first). however i'm not sure whether it's worth spending +200USD for an upgrade from 2.13GHz to 2.4GHz. not because of the additional 12% speed, but because of the 2x2MB cache (as oposed to the 2MB shared cache in the 2.13 version). what's your opinion on that? which processor did you chose?

vista upgrades are quite cool. you get it a lot cheaper (inclunding the XP pro) than getting it new. but what if you need a reinstall? do you have to go through both installations for it?

last, graphics card: i saw the game once on a high-spec machine... awesome!!! as a centrino1- 1.6GHz user i never even came close to it

I don't know so much about the specifics of processors, especially desktop versions. I have a humble Mobile T5600 @ 1.83 MHz with 2MB cache which does the job well for my needs.

Good question about re-installs. I alway prefer to install from scratch instead of upgrading, but I heard Vista forced you to upgrade from an existing Windows but there were protests so maybe they'll change that.

Where is the save btw?
