  • holy shït!!!! my naval spies knew about hellspawn's massive fleet but it still caught me by surprise!!!

evil-kid has once again razed one of my cities (at least not the capital), is starving all coastal cities and somehow he has managed to reduce the building of one of my spaceship parts by a large amount! (care to tell me how?)

i hope that he hasn't got nuclear arms yet otherwise everything is gonna be really grim for the good humans of this earth who just aspire always aspired peaceful means and peaceful end to this game...

anyhow, it's too critical that i play this turn quick-quick, so i'll have to wait until i have enough time to play it in one piece...

Oh, I had one of my girls take care of that. She did ask for a larger fee than I expected, so I had to bully the difference out of Tokugawa. It was worth it, though.

          war so far for me:

i lost my complete navy (checked out the event log, i think i only won about 2-3 defensive battles),

1 city was razed, 2 are under siege from a smallish stack and 1 from a large one.

all my cities are in starving and unhappy.

to add to that, my people are preparing for nukes to be launched upon the cities. their only hope are the bomb shelters and a possible escape from this deadful world dominated by the cruel maple leaf german...

          • Sabre, Did you have to pay for a new game or can you just get your DVD replaced for a nominal fee?

                • I have it. Thing is I was handed a puzzle which I believe has no solution... I just want to be real sure before I forward.

                  • there is no solution, trust me...
i have calculated all factors in like extortion to finance the girls, full out attacks, famines... even nukes.

1946 AD, the final turn, sent to GS.

After it officially ends I'll post some comments on a good game.

finally played my turn! the last spaceship component has been built and there is no way that corossol will be able to destroy my capital this turn with too few units around... even his nuke wouldn't help.

on the other hand it was just a matter of time. 1-2 turns later he would have got me and in the long run i wouldn't stand the slightest chance!

i hereby congratulate corossol to a very well played game. you had the worse starting situation than me but made the best out of it. you proved to be a brilliant micromanager and everything was planned out to the exact detail.

while i also consider myself a strong and detailed PBEM player, i believe you are better than me in most facets of the game!

                          • as this was one of my first PBEMs i did a lot of mistakes in the beginning:

                            - instead of pursuing the early christian shrine (delaying other great people) i should just have played normally (i must say that i'm surprised by corossol's active spreading of hinduism. most of my cities were producing way too many hammers to "waste" it on missionaries.

                            - i thought i had plenty of time to sail the ocean. so no rushing of caravels and galleons. again, a mistake! about 2 turns before i had circled the globe, corossol did it before me. this +1 movement later was also very important towards the sneak attack.

also in the late game i did mistakes:

                            - i didn't upgrade my units although i KNEW corossol was going to attack. this was absolutely foolish!

                            - when calculating my spaceship builds and the cost of destroying the build i didn't consider that corossol would extort the AI players. this nearly gave me a faint heart attack when i suddenly saw that it had dropped from 1 to 3 turns. fortunately i could chop some forests that had been pre-chopped and boost it in the end.

                            - i actually delayed a golden age by two turns because i forgot to set the great people properly.

but in the end it all sufficed and some of my best people are fleeing this planet to find refuge in a nearby solar system. they will be prepared for the evil germans that are surely try to follow a few years later and my generals have assured me that not a single grey player will ever survive outer space....

Does it make a difference in Civ4, since the Apollo project doesn't actually reside there?
I ask in passing because, it so happens, that I DID raze your capital this turn.

I already prepared some post-game remarks, but just to be safe I'll wait for your confirmation next turn before i post them. Meanwhile, on to GS
