Just so everyone knows, the PAUSE key on your keyboard is what pauses and unpauses the game.

as far as I know it is not possible to set up pitboss game wothout passwords for players

You simply do not enter a password when promted to make a password.

No need. That is what CivStats is for. I also wouldn't worry too much about regestering on CivStats... I never do. I use it strictly to determine when the turn has flipped.
