Well if you don't want an AI then just replace them with a person
You could for example have kicked Beta a few days ago, joined yourself, played his turns for him, then when he came back kicked yourself and let him join.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.
I like your SNOOPY POSTER! - While you Wait quote.

yeah, it's odd... i could still play my turn, but it was the previous one i think... or at least my unit couldn't move anymore...
6 hours left, but notification only came a few hours ago...

heh it crashed on me once and I uploaded from an earlier autosave. The autosave it made for you pin was only 1kb so it may have crashed right after you played your turn or during don't know. As much as I love pitboss (and I do MUCH better than pbem) it crashes a whole lot.A university faculty is 500 egoists with a common parking problem

it crashes a whole lot.
Have you set your memory prioritys? Set the pittboss to high, and look for useless (or next to useless) processes and set them to low.
When it comes to computers, i know just enough to be dangerous. I have been wrestling with hosting pittboss for some time now though, and have gotten it to the point where it only crashes if Gamespy crashes.

saving now every time I see a new person play a turn..
In one of the save folders (forget which one) you will see saves with each players name next to it. The game overwrites the last one when respective player completes a turn.
To load from the most recent, check the save times by looking at the saves (since you probably won't know who played last before the crash).
By using this method, you can always recover from the last turn played... without manually saving the game all the time.
