[PBEM]Civ4 Succession Game #1: Rome

920 AD- Bombardment of Paris continues, Bombardment of Rheims begins. Praetorian from Army Group I catch the French Horse Archers outside of Paris and heck them up.

French Axemen defeat a Praetorian near the ruins of Neopolis. But the next Pratorian come in and get revenge. no more french invaders in our homeland.

Priesthood researched, compass next

940 & 960 AD - Continued bombardment and positioning of troops, New French Horse Archers in both Paris and Rheims.

980 AD - Something strange happened... in a matter of one turn Rheims obtains another two horse archers! Help from a foreign ruler ?? Probably those Greek! I remember now when I declared war they got mad and cancelled our open borders treaty...

But during this turn we sacrificed 2 catapults to an assault on Paris, before sending our Pratorian. This enabled us to take Paris without losing any Pratorian.

1000 AD - Rheims has built up a pretty hefty defense force, waiting for Pratorian from Army Group I to arrive so we can attack in a huge wave in the future.

I would recomend building a Settler to replace our city that was razed and possible start on a navy of some sort...just my humble opinion...

GREAT TURN! We captured 2 French cities and spilt their empire in two. Now if we can just get rid of Rheims...

Yeah I agree about the navy, France must be getting horses from Greece because I don't see any horse resources they have. And horse archers are pretty annoying!

So with a navy we can blockade their port so they canot trade by sea, right?

That would be my understanding...haven't tried it yet.

Although, seeing that our map of the French territory is incomplete, it is possible that they might have horses that we don't know about.

Might want to send a detachment of Pretorians on a scouting mission to the north east of Paris just to be sure...

Then we decide it is best to start producing some Praetorians..and soon

Headed to the North we visit our target of the French city of Rheims

assaulting with catapults we reduce the defense to 0 %

Using Praetorians we kill 2 archers squads off.

Then we occupy Rheims

In addition we take out a lone archer and a mounted Horse Archer outside in the flatlands
