Teach me!

Ok - is it only me? After some initial success (and by success I mean only needing 3 to 6 attempts) logging into this game, it degraded to about 12 to 15 tries the previous two turns, but I eventually did get in. I just tried thirty someodd times, and can't log in. The game is there, showing 0/11, so no one else is logged in.

And, I know it is not me (or at least I don't think it is.) On another pitboss game hosted by snoopy369, and run through Gamespy, we have played 10 or 12 turns now, and not once have I failed to connect immediately on the first attempt. In fact, just before my 30+ attempts to log into Teach Alexman, I connected immediately to the other game and played my turn.

Any ideas??

Ok - tried about 45 minute slater and connected on the first try. Go figure.

I'm having another persistent problem today. Upon attempting to log into the lobby, instead of the lobby coming up, the game simply freezes. After a minute or so frozen, it kicks me back to the login screen. This was the case 5 hours ago for me and still is.

Yeah, alex, I think there's something funky with your server... I've been taking 3-5 tries to get in recently, after no problems for a long time.

Solver, usually that indicates that you have the wrong password and/or login name, and/or the gamespy lobby is not playing happily. Given that I've been in gamespy recently I doubt that's the problem, but ...

I just tried again, same stuff. I don't think I can mistype my password 10 times in a row .

Weird... and yeah, I checked caps lock . I'll probably have to miss this turn unless my computer starts feeling benevolent very soon.

Hmm. Maybe DirectIP? Can I tell via netstat or something else what IP address i'm connected to? Since I'm connected to the game right now, anyway? Or was that nixed for some other reason?

Alex said that their firewall wouldn't be allowing Direct IP connections, I think.

Hmmm. The IP address that shows up in my netstat is actually a gamespy IP, so unless that would allow you to connect (quite possible) not useful (I guess gamespy passes the connection through their server, not computer-to-computer as I thought they would?)

Still, Alex, your server seems a bit slower to respond than usual.
