  • Egyptian headquarter in the Pentagon, Hor'Aha's office.

-Genaral Ruggins, you know why I 've asked for you. You had direct orders to defend our position in Avaris, yet you ordered our troops to retreat and let the Carthageians burn our dear city.
-My Lord.. we had to retreat. We couldn't had defended our city against their tanks. it was hopeless, I had to save the army to figth an other day..
    -Yes I know
    -But..
-That's why I put you in command. I knew you wouldnt carry out such an order..
    -But..
-But we need to watch the public morale.. we can't just abandon a city even if it's logical.. a single person.. a weak general can make such a decision.. but not us.
    -...
-The good news is that you a have a choice. a trial for disobeying a direkt order.. followed by an execution of course.. or -and we too would prefer this option.. suicide witin 12 hours.
-May I see my family first?
-They are already here. and Doctor Rumsus can help you choosing ..you know what..
    -...Thank you... my Lord...
    -Dismissed

    • "Sir, have you heard the news?"

      "No, Darius, what is it?"

"Sir, apparently an artistic master has come to light in Antioch!"

"Nuts. I was hoping for this guy named Einstein..."

      "No, who's that?"

      "I'm not sure."

"Anyway, he is ready for you to commission a great work!"

      "Eh, what's his style?"

      "He does really good lullabies!"

"Bah, I wanted some heavy metal."

"You mean uranium? Sorry, we don't have any, just oil."

"Bah. Well, send him to go work with that engineer we have, maybe they can build a really soothing bridge over the Euphrates..."

"Yes, sir. Sir, there is another thing."

      "What is it?"

"Well, many people are asking us to trade this composer. They offer other masters of other disciplines or gold in exchange."

"Ah, now there is some good news! Tell them we want Einstein."

"Well, I'm not sure there's anyone by that -"
      "Einstein, dammit."

      • Upon hearing the news that the Persian government is looking for somebody named Einstein the Carthaginian government searched the population records. And as Einstein is a name which is jewish from origin, and in Carthag there are millions of followers of the jewish faith, the search had multiple results.

Below I present you the most talented ones:

        * Salomon Einstein, a talented four star cook in Utica
        * Moses Einstein, captain of the CRS Five Star Enterprise
        * Hamilcar Einstein, commander of the 4th Carthaginian Tank Division, currently on campaign in the eastern desert.
        * Albert Einstein, a famous gardener in Leptis, creator of the EMC gardens of Citorno
        and 123 others..

The EMC gardens in Citorno, famous for their intelligent and precisely calculated ornamentary elements called fractals.

Can we have additional information of the Persian government which Einstein they are looking for?
The Carthaginian government is as always looking for ways to make a profitable trade, for all involved, for Einstein, for Persia and for Carthage.

        • "Xerxes, did you hear the news?"

"Ah, yes, the Carthaginians have replied. They have some 'Einsteins'..."

"Well, who is it? The world wants to know."

"Well, the Carthaginians at least, I'm not sure they count as-"

          "Sir. The world."

"Fine. The Albert guy sounds intriguing. Those patterns, they titillate my cortexes in odd ways. I do not quite understand it."

          "What's a cortex?"

          "Ah, I'm not sure."

"Sir, what should I tell them?"

"Well, if they have anyone that can help start an academy, I'd sure love to talk to him. But this 'Albert' guy had better be pretty damned good at science to do that."

          "Alright, anything else?"

"Oh, if they can manage to crossing, we still want to discuss corporate branches. I figure they can send the agents along with Al."

"Sir, just so you know, we hear things about these 'agents' and what they do to the cities they expand into. Runaway control and expansion..."

"What, science fiction and urban legends and old wives' tales and paranoid delusions! The Egyptian agents and their amazing cereal products -which make for the best breakfasts a Persian can ask for- haven't had one bit of an effect, nor has their governor of Antioch, Ra's light shine upon him."

"Sir, uh, nothing. I'll get right on that."

"Dismissed, then. Oh, bring me some Pharoah's Choice on the way out. One, no two bowls. Oh, I'll just have my other assistant do it. See to the Carthaginians. Nasser! More of the good stuff!"

          • When approached Albert Einstein said:

"I am keen to get the chance to start an Horticultural Academy in Persia.
I didn't know they call it a science in Persia, but they are among the first to grasp it is.
It seems they can really appreciate my work and my talent.

And sharing knowledge with the masters of the Hanging Gardens must be very stimulating indeed. Combining these with some of my best work from the EMC gardens seems a challenge I am ready to commit to."

And people, remember the motto of my work:
            He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead;
            his eyes are closed."

            • Operation Compass

With the Egyptian invasion of Carthaltra the desert war began. The start was slow as both camps were putting the most effort in the sea war. The Egyptians had to halt there as Carthage had intentionally left their eastern desert (Cyreneica region) void of any infrastructure.

The following years Egyptian engineers built a railroad and two fortified cities in the desert: Asyut and Avaris. Meanwhile both sides were frantically assembling new divisions with the latest equipment on both sides of the desert expanse.

Now the Carthaginian High Command under Fieldmarshall Hannibal Mon Gomeri has ordered a new campaign:

Aim of Operation Compass is to follow up on the conquest of Avaris, and to secure possession of the Asyut outpost, to destroy as many Egyptian units as possible and to make sure the Egyptian air force can’t reach Carthaginian soil again.

Fieldmarshall Mon Gomeri adressed his troops in this radio bulletin:

“Men, now the time has come to prove you are able to use this fine equipment we have gotten you. Know that the Egyptian troops are fine soldiers, but let the world see we are more than able seamen and traders, we are rulers of the desert as well. Trust in your training, our tanks and our guns. “

Assuming a successful outcome, in the second phase perhaps Carthaltra can be liberated, and make further eastward exploitation possible. Preparations were made in the strictest secrecy. Only a few officers knew during the training exercise held on 25 and 26 November that the objectives marked out on ground were replicas of Asyut fortifications and that the exercise was in fact a rehearsal. The troops were also told that a second exercise was to follow.

Many of the troops involved in Operation Compass were not informed that the operation was not an exercise until 7 December as they arrived at their start positions.Progress in the first day of the attack was swift. The outskirts of Asyut were reached. But now the main task lays ahead: destroy the Egyptian desert army and capture Asyut.

As the troops prepared for their assault on Asyut king Hanno II made his dramatic first speech on the radio..

              • Operation Compass cancelled

After heavy fighting and a high price in both people and equipment for both sides, Operation Compass has been cancelled. Failure to reach it's initial goal, the conquest of Asyut, left fieldmarshall Mon Gomeri no other choice as to fall back to the starting point of the attack.

As no major city infrastructure had been conquered the Egyptian airforce would otherwise had been able to induce additional losses. To spare this loss of life without any foreseeable gain in the near future, Mon Gomeri ordered a tactical retreat.

This retreat has been succesfull and was conducted in an ordered manner. The Tobruk outpost has been left as it was an undefensable position.

Changing fortunes in the desert, the desert pendulum

Either side has been unable to produce any substantial gains during this war, while the loss of life and equipment has been immense. Militairy experts predict that this situation will remain.

                What will our leaders do?

                • This land.. this desert has been an empty wasteland for thousands of years, now it's a playground of brutal battles. We must secure this land, and not just secure but advance. Not only because this is the only land bride to reach our enemies, but it has its own strategic importance. We shall soon rebuild Avaris, properly fortified this time. Our aircrafts which provided huge help during the recent weeks will carry our troops and warmachines from the back of the Empire to the frontlines. I know that the pressure on our citizens are high. Somehow we had to match the production capacities of Carthage and this required huge sacrfices. I know many object this.. they say "no more slaving" but these people are misled.. they can not understand that the only choice is to be aslave for a noble goal.. for our country Or to be slave of our enemies. That will never happen. Egypt is the master of the world, the land and the sea. As it always was and always will be.

                  Hor'Aha

                  • Tzar Simeon express sharp criticism about Hungary unwillingness to set Greece free. Bulgaria oldest friends the people of Greece are held under the rule of their Hungarian conquerors against their will.

Tzar Simeon of Bulgaria sends one more stark note to Geza of Hungary and asks for rational solution. If compromise cant be found, all courses of action are being discussed.

                    • Simeon of Bulgaria,

The Greek people are equal citizen of the Hungarian-Greek empire.
They do not want to be free. They are living under beter conditions then ever before.

                      • Bulgaria have differing opinion on the case than the Hungarian officials. To our understanding, Greece have lost its independence, lost its rightful ruler because of Hungarian invasion, lost all their resources and income to the bottomless Hungarian treasure, losing their territory and ethnic identity to the strong Hungarian culture and now are only a pawns without any own will, who live or die on the mercy of the warlike Hungarian king.

                        • Simon of Bulgaria,

Please do not test our relationship by arguing the validity of the Hungarian occupation of Greece.
The Greek people invaded Hungary and despite many offerings of peace they continued to reject any forms of cease fire.
We had no other option but to overrun their evil government. The people of Greece live in peace and have many liberties.

Please do not push this issue any further because it will not do good for our relations.
We will organize a referendum soon for the Greek people to let them decide if they want to be independant again or not.

And learn our Tzar's name - it is Simeon the Great, not Simon (the Magus).

Now you are invading Greece for your so called liberation of Greece...
Do you really want both our armies to clash? Our armies have equal strength, why would you do this?

please return from this hopeless path that will bring only sorrows to both our nations. I offer you peace.
I will for now restrain my armies to give an opportunity to retreat.

After many years since huge armies were facing each other, a newly promoted egyptian general-General Whai'not has decided it's time for a full scale attack against odds but with the help of Gods. The inital reports confirms that the attack utterly failed, experts predict that about 70% of the egyptian land armies had been or be destroyed quite soon. Our cities are in danger.

                                Hor'Aha receiving the reports:
