Please don't use that as an excuse to also declare war on me
    Thanks for the compliment Russia

Well that is an interesting side game

PS. I did not yet finish my turn on purpose, as I first needed to examine the situation, and then consult some international relations.
With still more then 10 hours on the clock that was no problem I guess.

I am going to finish it now.

When we finish the game in addition to the quiz of guessing who is who i.e. which player plays certain nation, we can organize a side mini-game to try and guess what profession anyone have IRL from his writing and a performance as a whole

I guess I shouldn't have worded that as I did. I was just remarking that they had been in the server. I don't know for sure if they moved or not. I would be very curious as to why they didn't given they were in there for a long time, but everyone wants to take their time on this one apparently.

France, Aztec, Inca, you guys are poets! You should consider writing a book. You only have one life! And you definitely have the talent for it.

And America, you should consider running for office wherever you live. You have the type of soul stirring speech that gets men elected (unless you are just borrowing from past speeches like the Churchill stuff). If you are writing these speeches, you are also a poet of the highest caliber. Nice to see you fully participating... Now I feel robbed that you were keeping quiet before

Nothing like a firm thump on the head to get the creative juices flowing eh America?
Haha, thanks! Completely made them up, no borrowing (maybe unintentionally, as great historic speeches of course often make their way into our vocabulary/subconsciousness). Definitely nothing like a big thump, haha, thanks for that Having a lot of fun with all this, absolutely superb game, and I totally agree, everyone's writing excellent stories, loving it

Thanks Inca! I was wondering about that... I saw they were logged in for a while but did not end turn so I thought OK I'll just wait.

But now on second thought, given all the bad blood maybe I should just wait for Aztec to either technically end turn, or at least post here that he is done. Its not that I dont believe Inca, I do, but I just want to make sure I am obeying the rules fully

Am sorry about being AWOL, have only skimmed PM's and the thread. I have a horrendous work situation ongoing - something entirely unexpected. I can not give enough thought to the diplomacy that is going on but confirm my friendship with ACE who are acting on my behalf as King V.

For the record, the Aztecs played their turn but didn't hit "end turn", so whoever is next should go.

Sorry all, for the radio silence from my side; I was away for two days and was promised internet. Alas, the internet was not there. So I'm reading everything now

    Just a few clarifications:

    FIRST
    - The rule that forbids double moves during wartime or to start a war has game mechanical reasons.
Civilization is designed as a sequential turn-based game. In Pitboss games we play it simultaneously though for time and pragmatic reasons.

During war-time double moves are forbidden because a double move gives an unacceptable game mechanical advantage to the double mover. These advantages aren't possible if there is technically no war in both parts of the double move.
If there is technically no war, no party can get game mechanical advantages. (in fact the only 2 non-war advantages by double moving are settling a city or taking a hut. but we have accepted these b/c they're unavoidable.)

So if there is technically no war, then there is no double move rule and no turn order.
In Character DoWs are certainly nice for story telling, but have nothing to do with the war-time double move rules b/c these rules are just made for game mechanical reasons.

    SECOND
    - To preserve the turn order and avoid double move discussions we pause the game for civs that are at war and aren't able to move in time.
Civs that are not at war do not get a pause. It's very simple, it's a part of a pitboss game. Sometimes you miss a turn.
It's very nice to pause a game for a player, but we should simply not do it. It stops the game way too much.

    So:
    - if you want to keep to some turn order: declare technically war
    - if you want to get the game paused for you: declare war

I am glad that things seem to have been worked out.
    But just for future reference.

Snoopy369 advised us on Pitboss stuff just before we started our first Pitboss Diplogame, years ago.
He said that "double moves are the bane of pitboss games"
All pitboss games are haunted by fights and arguments over this rule. It's no problem, we have all done it more or less.
The rules sometimes seem to be silly, but they are there for a reason. Perhaps that reason is not always clear in every situation, but if it's not visible in your situation, it is in another situation. Even that 'turn before the war' rule which was also advised to us by Snoopy369. He used to be the pitboss guru.

I have mailed 2K and asked them to please double please keep this in mind for the pitboss server of civ5.
Just one option: simultaneous games with sequential turn order for civilizations at war and auto pausing.
It's very simple. Now let's hope that Greg 2K takes requests from Robert Plomp of Apolyton seriously
Maybe it helps if we all mail him. Greg is a Pitboss fan, he created civstats.com!!!

So all nations at OOC fights and war over DM situations, don't blame yourself or the other. It's the pesky bane of pitboss gaming.
Those who have never been into a Pitboss DM online ***** fight argument that think that fighters are silly idiots: you'll be next :P It'll come to all of us one day! Keeping us awake at night; buwHAHAHAHAHA

    /nightmare
