Game's up now. I'll make the timer 36 hours for now, the turns will continue to finish earlier b/c everybody every turn finishes their turn anyway, so it may not be a big deal.
3 hours left for this turn.Formerly known as "CyberShy"

One of the principle reasons that I ended up fighting my way across half a continent was a total lack of Iron. Not a scrap of it from Uruk down to well within the old Mayan Empire. For the game's 2nd largest nation to have only 1 oil as well is pretty very strange - if France were still there it wouldn't even have that! I still await to see what aluminium I get but am not optimistic.

How is it possible that for an 8 player game we have to go to a 36hr clock?
Surely there must be a limit on just how long anyone, war or no war, can take? I had always believed it was simply a switch in turn order for the next turn if one was missed.
A pause would be better as this clock length means that if anyone takes an eternity then we still have to wait regardless of circumstance. Please, ladies and gentlemen, let common sense rule rather than such an arbitrary and extreme move.“Quid latine dictum sit, altum videtur”

I did tweak it though for non-FfH2 purposes. Resources are totally different, of course. I thought I put enough strategic resources on the map for everyone... maybe I didn't do as good a job as I hoped. Though be sure to explore every corner of the map. It is entirely likely that those key modern resources are hidden somewhere. Go here for the original map. Over 4,500 downloads!! And another 1,800 downloads for an earlier version of the map.
FfH2, if you guys haven't played it yet (and you haven't really experienced all Civ has to offer till you have), has a number of unique civs. I put those civs into land that was appropriate for that civ. The horse lords started in a great central plain, the desert nomads started in the desert, the dwarves started among mountains, the elves started among many forests, etc. I translated that to your game. So Egypt in the desert, Mongols in the great plain, Celts in the mountains, Vikings up north. My favorite civ to play on my map is the Bannor, a Lawful-Good Crusading type civ modeled somewhat after a religious Roman Empire. Obviously I put the Romans there. But they are my favorite to play because I like the theme of the civ, and like the fact that they are surrounded by enemies (which makes for a challenging game) not because I made the land there good.
It is interesting to see how the game has turned out (and I want a map!!! or a save!! Or several saves!). In most of my games the desert civ, the Malakim, always get their ass kicked by barbarians or by neighbors. I guess you guys gave them too long to grow peacefully and are now paying the price...

Gondor (Byz) had no iron either, nor Uranium. I think there is a rough balance in the map which is good.
I don't remember clearly, but I think I set it up so that not every civ will have easy access to all the strategic resources, but they should have some of them, which could make some interesting match ups (civ with uranium & oil vs civ with coal & aluminum) etc.Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012
