New Horizons - New Diplogame Set-Up Thread

[Heraclitus]

I've been thinking... with Tony and other showing interest showing and 3 players interested in col perhaps we could get away with 2 games?

A real world succesion game with Rhye (7 players) and
a Colonization game (4 to 7 players). We could recruit a few extra players for the colonization game on the Colonization section of Apolyton, CFC and WPC.

I would be available both for a Colonization diplo and as a sub or a late civ in a Rhye game on the world map.

Strange feeling to be unwelcomed Oh well going back to DOC

You're always welcome! But the larger the games get the harder they are to manage. My very first post indicated a desire to limit the number of players. We're already over that limit. So you should have spoken up sooner.

It is first-come, first-serve. No one is being specifically excluded.

I don't want to play an other standard diplogame simultaneously with DoC, so I'm only interested if we are playing a full conversion mod (or colonization) _or_I might be a non permamnet player in a succession game.
For a change we could try a game where we allow total annihilation. That way there would be more players than civ quite soon. Tthose who had been eliminated wouldnt be out of the game, but avaible to be leaders, co-leaders in succession style.

Well be sure to vote. As I pointed out, Rhye's and Fall of Civilization is on the cusp of being selected for this game. So vote for it and it'll certainly happen.

Allowing total annihilation is one of the items to vote for, but it isn't looking good at the moment. Probably won't happen for this game.

To be clear considering you guys have lots of players, if you decide to play another vanilla game I'm going to let my spot go to someone else. I'm ok with any of the mods mentioned and with CivCol. I might still be interested in a vanilla game if it was a Europe, Mediteranean or Asia map with succesion.

The two most popular options are for a succession game and a real world map. So at this point those two options are locked in. We have two more people to vote and there will still be a majority for both those options.

Mods might be a bit trickier. Though currently, with two yes votes, one no and several abstentions, RFC is winning also. But regardless we seem assured of a succession, real world game.

RFC would also be on a world map and could work quite nicely with succession actually. I think it would be quite interesting having different civs that start at different times too. Like Hera is busy right now, so he could take like a European civ that starts later. It'd be fascinating I think. Also, with the stability system, if a civ collapsed it'd be a perfect time to jump ship to another civ. There will be many more civs than there will be players, so there will be plenty of AIs to interact with (and take over) as well. Could be a very cool and very different form of civ. Plus RFC is designed specifically to better emulate world history, so we could get into historical roles much easier.

I'm excited about the possibility!

But even a non-RFC world map succession game would be fun, still hoping for Rhye's though. Especially since I was one of the first testers for the mod back when BTS was in development. I'd have to let Rhye know, he'd be very interested.

Unfortunately no. But if one of the above 8 drops out you're next in line.

I've just set up my new 27" iMac (Intel i7, 8gb ram, 512mb graphics)
to dual boot into Windows 7!

Civ 4 BTS runs fine

Such beauty with rich colours and 2560 x 1440 resolution.

Now I'm ready for a game!
