  • Peace agreement.

Raz was right... no one has balls in this game.

Percia, cut your balls off an bury your head in the sand. We finally had a chance to stick it to Rome and you were bought off for a measly voucher.

    SHAME.

And don't come at me with that "I secured peace for Russia" bull. They are in ruins because of Rome, even with the return of their city.

I only hope the wolf Rome sets it's sights on you in the future.

          • Apolyton Forum Bugs

Is it just me or are these known issues:

            1) I subscribe to a thread and click the update to see the actual post and get sent to my first ever update in the topic.

            2) The page indicator and last page hyperlink is not visible (sometimes).

            3) My subscribed threads keep needing to be resubscribed.

            4) Terrible terrible response at times. Quite honestly I haven't read some story threads because it takes too long. And its not me ... I have no other issues except with this forum. Apolyton never used to be like this.

            5) Length of time for replies ... 22 seconds for this one prior to it being accepted (now editing after the fact). That is terrible!

Does anyone know if these issues are being investigated or is this just the way it is ?

              • @Rome :

I am curious, how many units did you loose in crushing my army in a single turn ? (didn't check that when I logged in)

                  • OK I just caught up with what I missed :

Greece and Maya have signed peace with Rome, and Russia is about to ?

Come one guys... are you kidding me ? You have begged for me to join the war and now you let me fight it out alone ? Nice... -_-

                    • I know, and they agreed peace so easily. The Greeks agreed it without any Roman ever fighting a Greek. The four nation alliance against Rome could have destroyed me easily, particularly with the brilliant master stroke by the Sparta spies in launching the war. But fortunately, the allies looked to their own interests and peeled away one by one.

Before the war, I remember us chatting and I said that my allies would prove more dependable than yours, and urged you not to invade. We were both wrong. The help I expected didn't appear - just shows how quickly things change - but your allies proved unreliable as well.

And I was damn lucky in some of the dice throws.

                      • Well, Sparta's invasion force consisted out of 8 units, 4 trechbuchets and 4 'normal' units.
We were obviously not able to supply our force with new troops. It took us already like 25 turns to bring our army to Rome.

We had a shock and awe strategy in mind.
Strike quickly, burn 1 or 2 cities, and die in a glorious way on the battle fields.
That's why the slave revolt was important. Rome should get no time to slave new defenders.
I had built up enough ep's to see the entire Roman territory, and I knew that the south was hardly defended.

Unfortunately Rome received gunpowder from Portugal and the Maya grabbed the city I wanted to burn. (I agreed that the Mayans could take the city. They wanted to 'keep' it, while I wanted to 'burn' it. But the plan was that I should take it, and give it to the Maya, so that I had my revenge at least by taking 1 city)

But unfortunately the Maya striked one turn before me.
that destroyed my entire plan. I was 1 turn to late at the gates of the 2nd city (Rome reacted one turn earlier and was able to bring their defenders 1 turn earlier there as well)

The Mayans forgot to defend the city I wanted to burn, so now it's Roman again.
If I had had my way it would've been gone and Rome would've been hurt.

The Maya spread their armies into two directions and lost both wars. (If you hunt two rabbits, you will lose them both, Maya hunted 3 rabbits, keep the city, try to get 2 more cities, now they have no cities)

Then I had my, untouched, but also outdated (no musketmen), army wandering through Roman territory. My 4 trechs could easily damage any defence hard enough to make my outdated units strong enough again, but Rome had reinforced all closeby cities with at least 5 defenders.

The war was also hurting my economy. I had many units in foreign territory for a long long time already! (including many galleys, spies, and the 8 unit army).
Since Piercia was losing in the east (I still don't understand how you could be surprised by the Roman army! Everything was planned so well, I had shared all my maps of Roman troops with you!) and Maya losing in the south, my army wandering through Rome was suddenly all by itself.

It was obviously a pain to Rome. Not a big pain, but an annoying one though.
I could start to pillage stuff, hunt units in the open field.
Anyway, Rome apparently didn't want to deal with my army, it wanted to focus on Russia and Piercia. Therefore Rome offered me the gold it all started with.

                        That was my way out.
I could end this war in a honourable way.
And that's what I did. I accepted the gold, and thus achieved my goals in some way, and immediately disbanded my army.

                        • Sparta speaks true! (Shock horror :-) though I think they were catapults not trebs). The only thing I would add is that I didn't reinforce all close by cities with five defenders, I reinforced the only closeby city with five defenders - which was basicaly my whole army except for those tied up on the Percian and Rus borders). And you are right, there was just one turn in it. It was that close. And as the battle plans you published showed, it was then something like three or four turns to Rome, which was defended just by a warrior, and I was in revolt so no slaving or drafting new troops. I still shudder at the memory. I was very lucky!

                          • It would have been an entirly different ball game it I were involved but sadly I was not invited to invade Rome.

                            • Anyway... I won't give up. I have started this war and I will end it, with or without support.

Rome, you won't get diplomatic answers for the moment, since my leaders are completely unavailable ATM. (= I have a story line planned, and won't answer until I have written all I wanted to write)
