    • I'll work around that book pic for a few days. I don't have very much time to spend at Civ&Co ATM, but i'll do my best to get a nice suggestion ASAP.

      • Its not a huge deal, and the mod isn't finished yet, even the debate about the mod isn't finished yet so take your time. Personally I think "The History of the World: a Diplogame Mod" would be a good title, but apparently we are doing away with the HOTW title altogether. But its up to you.

        • Maybe a picture of the Versailles peace conference?

          This pic, just of bigger size and quality.

          • I'd rather not take a too much area-related picture. The book is neutral enough without being completely out of topic.

            Good choice Capo.

            • Thank you Piercia, I was either looking for something simple (like the book pic, which I think I like the most now) or something that showed two vastly different cultures engaged in diplomacy. A good image for the latter was hard to come by, but I think the simple image of that leatherbound book would be easier to work with for you. You shouldn't take too much time on it though, just a simple text-graphic is really all we need but you may want to put up a few versions so people can decide what they like.

              I also just wanted to make a few statements on what I am going to do next. I am going to do a huge graphics upgrade, basically I am adding a few new graphics to the units primarily the mesoamerican ships that were mentioned before and I am going to change Spain's early units to make Carthage's more unique (right now they have the same early units). I am also going to add some new leaders because I like the leaderheads for them particularly Taizong of China which is a Firaxis-made leaderhead that was released with the Chinese version of Civ IV (why should they get all the fun!), and I am going to work on the first round of modules (perhaps two to three). I'm not sure which ones to add but I was thinking of adding Nubia, Israel and then maybe Austria, Magyars or Poland but I am not sure which ones I will add just yet.

              Basically I've realized I have so much time to work on this thing that I might as well get it to look as good as possible. Its too bad we can't get the assassin/bribe actions to work yet, but there are people over at CFC working on it so hopefully we'll get somewhere eventually.

              Anyway, any and all suggestions are appreciated, they may not necessarily be followed but it does help me out greatly so keep them coming.

              • This one looks quite humble, but still like something serious.

                How do you like it ?

                • I like that, a few suggestions though;

                  Could you make the word "Diplomacy" bigger, mainly wider so it spreads accross the top more, and make the letters brown and the glow gold to match the book? Otherwise its great and its pretty much what we need, nothing too complicated.

                  Nice work, much appreciated.

                  Now I've just got to figure out how to put it in. Something I probably should have already done.

                  • Hey everyone!

                    Today I am going to embark on an ambitious graphics upgrade to our diplogame mod. I am adding the MesoAmerican ships to Maya, Aztecs, Inca and Natives (I know they aren't MesoAmerican really, but the ships will look good with them too). I am replacing the Carthaginian Crossbowman (because he looks the same as the Spanish one and is out of place with the rest of the Medieval units for Carthage), I am giving Spain new looks for their ancient units because they look just like Carthage's, and I am changing the Roman Cuirasser to match their Musketman.

                    I am also adding new leaders because I feel like it. They will be;

                    - Taizong, China
                    - Masanissa, Carthage
                    - Constantine, Rome
                    - Ivan "the Terrible" Grozny, Russia (it was a toss up between him and Lenin, but I figured they already have a communist leader)
                    - Ronald Reagan, America (I don't like him, but the LH is great and I know a lot of people love this guy)
                    - Abu Bakr, Arabia
                    - Amenhotep III, Egypt
                    - Akbar the Great, India

                    I understand that the new leaders aren't really necessary, but I just think it will be fun to add some leaders and this is mostly for my own amusement.

                    I am also going to try and get Piercia's title background to work, I know I asked him to change it a little and I hope he does (even though this one is good) but I want to make sure I know how to do it properly first. After I am done with this, hopefully tonight, I will put up a new DL for you guys (this time with everything but the assassin/bribe missions working) to try out.

                    And as long as there are no more requests I think this pretty much is a finished work at that point. So I want to start putting together a testing team. So we've got to discuss that. I'll put up screen shots as I go along with the leaders.

                    Wish me luck.

                    • - Constantine, Rome

                      Constantine was no Roman. He was Byzantian.

                      Here is the modified image, considering your specifications :

                      • Perfect.

                        And Constantine ruled over the entire Roman empire so I consider him to be a Roman leader rather than Byzantine leader. If you guys want to debate this that's fine too, I could put him in as Byzantine and Marcus Aurelius in as another Roman leader, although I think that Constantine would be a good representative of Christian-Rome. So that's why I decided to put him there. Anyway I love that new image and I am certainly going to put it in once I figure that whole mess out, but for now here are four of the new leaders, going clockwise-from the top left (although you can probably figure it out anyway) we have Taizong of China, Masanissa of Carthage (I know, technically he was Numidian but he did lead Carthage in battle numerous times and gained victory over Scipio Africanus in Spain), Ivan Grozny (aka the Terrible), and Abu Bakr:

                          I agree about Constantine for Rome instead of Byzantium.

                          What traits for each?

                          I'd suggest Charismatic and Financial for the Gipper.

                          • Alright, there was some IM talk of adding another Japanese leader and Marcus Aurelius to Rome, but I'm going to put that on the backburner for now. Here are the next four leaders, and again clockwise from the top-left we have Ronald Reagan of America, Amenhotep III of Egypt, Constantine of ROME, and Akbar the Great of India.

                            • Now comes the fun part, their traits and favorite civics. These were thrown together really quickly so I am certainly not going to mind any suggested changes, in fact I am inviting them. So please let me know if any changes need to be made, and if you have time go and look them up too. Now, some of the traits were given to make them different than their national colleagues (which is why Taizong has financial as a trait actually) in order to add more variety to some countries. I noticed China wasn't getting picked too often and they probably should so that's why he has that trait, anyway here goes;

                              Constantine (Rome); Spiritual and Organized, Favorite civic is Organized Religion

                              Abu Bakr (Arabia); Spiritual and Organized, Favorite civic is Theocracy

                              Akbar the Great (India); Creative and Imperialistic, Favorite civic is Bureaucracy

                              Amenhotep III (Egypt); Industrious and Charismatic, Favorite civic is Hereditary Rule

                              Ivan Grozny (Russia); Aggressive and Expansive, Favorite civic is Vassalge, he probably needs the most debate

                              Masinissa (Carthage); Industrious and Organized, Favorite civic is Hereditary Rule

                              Ronald Reagan (America); Financial and Charismatic, Favorite civic is Free Market

                              Taizong (China); Financial and Imperialistic, Favorite civic is Vassalage

                              Tonight I hope to get the new flavored units finished and get the background inserted so I can send out a new version of the mod. I still haven't made the trait changes to the last round of leaderheads so try and let me know in the next few days which changes you want to these because I intend on releasing this thing (again) at the end of the week.

                              • Okay, I have added the new ships. There was no Frigate unfortunately and there is not a MesoAmerican privateer (for obvious reasons), but here's a little sample of some of the new ships.

                                In the foreground is the Ship of the Line, in the center is the Galleon and in thebackground is the Caravel, these ships go with the Natives, Mayans, Aztecs and Inca. Enjoy.
