Another reason why playing anonymous is stupid/pointless/a waste of time/etc....

People should not use thier anonymous logins outside the Beyond the Pit threads.
It's a rule the poly admins have made when they allowed us to create these id's.

          Let's live up to that.

Pitboss only works for those who can be online everyday, preferably more than once a day, which often means those with computer jobs or students, all others miss out, which means my useless civ will probably go AI in HOTW X11 when it goes pitboss.

A 12h turn timer means you login to the game early in the monring before you go to your job, and in the afternoon / evening you play your 2nd turn.

That should be doable for about everyone.
The turns you miss once in a while can be automated.

Well, with a 24 hour timer being on ONCE a day would assure that you never miss a turn.

I trust that the Beyond the Pit game is still going to 24 (22) hour timer once we hit 100 turns or so?

                    Against the 24hr timer!

What is wrong with the 12hr timer now, 85% make their turns.

A 24hr will mean bordom for many months.

I will leave to CS to decide, but seeing that no one has said anything against the current situation why change?

Well, some have stated that a 12h timer isn't working with their working schedules.

Maybe we can make it 14h / turn.
I'd love it to keep it 12h or even go back to 8h or 10h / turn.

We can always turn to 24h for a while, ie. during war situations or if someone makes a special request.

I actually have no problem going more on the timer, but only if people try to take their turn promptly and not leave the timer to run out.

I've seen games in the past (set to 16 - 20hr timers) people just do not take their turns in 4-5 times in a row while they weren't even away.

Worse case is to have a slacker slowing down the whole group by not taking his turns.

THAT IS WHY A SHORTER TIMER LIKE THE CURRENT ONE, allows us to advance even if we have a dead weight among our ranks.

After all i see this as a team endevour, finish the turn as fast as you can in order to advance the turn.

I actually love the 12hr, as CS said i get up in the morning make my turn, once back from work I take the 2nd one. What if you miss one turn - we constantly talk of giving orders to your guys.

Of course a longer timer makes sence once the game advances and people need the extra time.

LOL @ Toni, did you just copy and paste that diatribe from the other thread.

I don't see how using a 12 hour timer should be problematic, I mean that leaves an average of around 14 turns a week, which was pretty much what we were doing with normal diplogames. The idea here was to fit more people in right?

A twenty four hour timer would be completely boring, I say we don't switch it. But that isn't why I'm posting.

Pinchak said since it is turn 100 we should increase the amount of time on the timer. WHY? I just want someone to explain the logic behind this.

                            So, could someone please?

But for someone like me who starts work early, I would miss every morning turn (depending on day I now get up between 5 and 6am, will not get up earlier for anything) and due to other commitments some evening turns as well, so unless your someone like a student or computer worker, pitboss on that sort of timer just does not suit, as I would play every 2nd or 4th turn, not sustainable.
