Actually, As far as I can tell - If we would have "clicked" on the 'turn-based rules' instead of the 'simultaneous turn-based' rules...most of our current problems could have been avoided...

But that is just the option from the peanut gallery.

not saying it bad. plase dont get me wrong. and i think once finished for vet players this will be good.

but i am for once agreeing with ozzy, if we going to mod a game for diplo i think we should minimise tha changes.

i know i saw earliers some discusion on what was needed to make a DIPLO mod, that is what was needed to add to the basic game to ensure it was more DIPLO style and less lets rush to Space to win.
Well I didn't consider it much of a departure personally, but to each his own. As far as the space victory, in this it takes longer to gain, so to me that was one of the benefits. I also liked the inquisitor. Taking these complaints into consideration I have begun working on one that is more similar to the normal game. But what suggestions would you have for making the space victory more difficult?

Basically I thought it would be better because of the new traits, new leaders, the inquisitor and the extended space race, but that's just me.

I'm not too sure what you are referring to here.

Most of the mod requirements were originally about tech trading limitations,

I for one am against any tech trading limitation till i see how this current game pans out.

I wil lgive my opinion then.

At present no one seems to be wanting to aid smalleer civs in current game unless they have something to ggive in return. This was not my experience in unlinited trade games.

So i wil lgive it a while longer but i afraid limiting trade limits smaller players.

Yeah but if you give them your tech vouchers (two vouchers for one tech) you can get up to five free techs, and they don't lose a voucher each time, they actually gain one each time.

Yes since we have been playing for soo long and all the civs have alphabet.

Dr. House is right, as usual.

I am changing the colors/flags for some of the countries (it bothers me that Arabia is mint green/blue and that the logo for Spain doesn't look remotely correct) and putting in an inquisitor unit. If anyone has any ideas COUGHrazCOUGH as to how I can make it more difficult for just a simple space victory that would be helpful.

personally capo the Space race should not be in the DIPLO game at all.

bu that is jsut my opinion and wont be supported by most.

The new voting system we using in this game will be interesting to see how it works out. again at end of game i will look and see who voted well and if it seems ok i will push for al ldiplos to be played that way.

I disagree with the whole space race thing. I think it should certainly be involved in the scoring system. Sending men to another planet, let alone going to space to begin with, is an amazing achievement and for someone who loves realisim so much I am a little surprised you are against it so much. But that isn't the purpose of this thread.

                        I have 86'd the mod as far as Thomas' War goes for diplogames and have started making my own mod that is exactly like the normal game. The changes I am going to make;

I am going to make leaders for those civs that only have one so there is an option for other trait combos for these civs, that way people who want to try a new combo can still make stories based on that civilization's culture.

So Japan is going to have Hirohito with different traits than Tokugawa, for example. The traits may not really match the actual leader but he is there to provide another option, there will be a leaderhead and everything so people can play it on their own time too. So if anyone has suggestions as to trait combos I should add to one-leader civs (Vikings, Sumeria, Babylon, Arabia, Natives, Maya, Aztec, Inca, Koreans, Khmer, Mali, Ethiopia, Carthage, Byzantines, HRE etc)

I have leaders planned for all of these nations except Arabia, and the Zulu. So help on this will be good too. I know he isn't a Zulu but I was considering putting Nelson Mandela in there just to create a stark difference from Shaka. And sorry for jacking this thread Ozzy, but I think I can address the leader-trait issue with this mod too. So any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am also adding the Inquisitor, changing the teamcolors and flags and making the space race more difficult (but I dont' know exactly how yet).

I agree with Capo about the space race, although I'm not sure that this thread is the right one for this discussion. Surely mod talk should go in the Diplogame Mod thread(s)? Anyway, I'm exploring using the UN mechanic to implement a Diplo Voting system that pops up every 100 turns (or however often people want, really)

The only civ that I have heard of getting alphabet is Rome, and they traded it to Piercia.

Piercia is currently run by a sub and Rome is in a war with Russia, golly gee I can't imagine why they aren't coming up to you and saying "hey want a tech?"

BTW Do you even have contact with Rome?

Quite frankly, I don't think this game will get to the Space Race stage...but I have been wrong before.
