      • To the Pitboss greenhorns, the more i read this the more i laugh at it. This is why we are playing a pitboss game, because even if someone doesn't make it he losses little to **** not being here.

        • Basically you play a Pitboss game via the Direct IP part of MP section in the game. The host gives out his IP and we just put it in the area and if their is a password we put that in. It could not be any simpler.

Two subs are needed for tonights session of HOTW12 Diplogame. Inca and Holland are the 2 top nations and are in need of subs. (or possibly Holland and Ottoman, another highly developed, civ though suffering external pressure. debate result pending) Game start is at
            12 midnight EST, East USA
            6 am CentralEuropeTime
5 pm (?) NewSouth Wales, time.

Anyone who would be willing to help us out will suffer great gratitude and honorifics. It is also an opportunity for players who are going to play in the Pitboss game to get some diplo experience firsthand if they previously don't have any. Our game is in the mid-industrial era, Mongolia and France are warring against Ottoman, and more conflict may erupt at any moment (ask the orriginal player for a guideline for your actions so that the continuity of diplomacy is not broken).

Please please please please, step up and have some fun with us crazy diploers during a time of great excitement.

P.S. The number of turns played will likely not be excessive since war is being conducted. This tends to drag things out a bit, but not so much that there won't be any action. on the contrary. I suspect each turn will be full of it

If you are interested, please post in the HOTW12 Organization thread here in the Multiplayer section of the forum.

              • Pitboss login procedures are exactly the same as any other Civ4 MP game. You can even use Gamespy (although the server needs it's own account - CS would need to have one for the server and one for himself).

                • Well there was no reason to wait for the civ list. The civs can be edited at any time.
I was planning on starting a new game with the correct civs/settings, then just copy/pasting the code into my map (instead of doing it all manually).

Truth be told, these past few weeks have been extremely hectic. We moved across town two weekends ago, and both me and my wife have started new jobs this week.

In retrospect, maybe I shouldn't have taken on the burden of making a map. However I don't think people should come down on me because the deadline has been moved up and I don't have it done.

The begining of June has been discussed for some time. Now all of a sudden we want to start now and guess what, I don't have the map done. I tend to plan things out, and seldom fall short of a deadline. When that deadline constantly moves however it makes things harder.

The map will be done soon (I plan on spending a good deal of time on it tomarrow). And it will be sweet.

Why don't we start first monday of June (2nd)?

does it matter what day we start. weare all committe to one turn per day arent we. so that means every day!
Actually it does matter. The first turn in critical because it is in this turn that you set your building ques.

I still need to know what settings we have decided on so that I can incorporate this into the code!

So there! The map isn't the only thing holding things up!

                  • The settings can be easily inserted into the code. Don't wait for them. Keep going on the map.

                    • Ok, bad news and good news....

Bad news... We went to my mother in laws this weekend and I didn't get much done on the map.

Good news... We dropped off my daughter at her grandmas for a few weeks while my wife trains at her new job. This means I should be able to spend at least 4 hours a night on the map this week.

It should be done in a few days I would guess. We should have a final vote or cyber can just lay down the law regarding certain game settings. Don't want that to delay us after I get the map done.

                            • I believe we have decided upon the following:

                              -Speed: Epic = 750 turns
-Map: Huge (custom made 3 continents, 2 populated)
                              -No Tech Brokering
-Max 10 tech trades with voucher (not 100% sure about this)
-Write stories now and then. Explain your actions. Especially declarations of war should have some form of base in written posts (even if the excuse is untrue)
-No cheating, no wars of eradication, no bad sportsmanship and as little whining, moaning and female-canine'ing as possible.

                              Did I miss anything?
