    You are one

    No worries about vets, I just wanted one regular game with 'old friends' one day. But maybe I was a bit stupid, It's not going to happen anytime anyway.

    And I was defenitely stupid because by saying that I sacked people who wanted to play.

        We should work on getting a lot of old timers in on this who might not have proper computers (MMC), time (Capo), or too many scheduling conflicts (dangime) for a standard diplo now.

          I'm willing to come out of hiding for this...

          Plus I have a lot of experience setting up multiple Pitboss servers on a single machine (Mostly involves just changing the port in the ini file).

          4. Pinchak

          6. MMC
          7. ...

          PS. Thanks Ozzy, for pointing this out to me :P
          I might be able to convince a couple of players from my Uni to have a look-see.

            I posted an "ad" for the game here.

            We of course should make sure that anyone who wants in is willing to comply with the story/vote aspect of diplogaming.

                Id advise waiting till the last patch is released, so all of the bugs are fixed. you are going to be in this game for about 18 months, or longer.. it will be 18 months on fast, and maybe a few years on marathon.

                I dont know if i will be alive that long.. lmao.

                I ended up subbing for someone in a great pitboss game and found it was a chain for many. You cant take vacations, its hard to find subs. so please for your happiness, make it on fast speed or spend more than a year trying to finish this one.
                Sorry Im not up for the long haul.

                Nols.

                  Perhaps a comprimise with normal or epic speed?

                    Here is the reply from Snoopy regarding the double move exploit...

                    In diplogames it should be rather different I suspect - as the diplomacy aspect is more important - but that's up to you guys I guess.

                    In competitive games, it's usually something close to:
                    * During peace - free
                    * During war:
                    - On any pair of turns involving a war between two (or more) nations, including the turn immediately preceding a war, the last player to move during one turn may not move prior to the first player to move, except if (# hours) has passed (in a 24 hour timer, 8 to 12 is usually used) in the turn. Even allowing for that amount of time to pass, if the first player usually plays at a particular time (and did in the previous turn), the latter player should allow the first player to play at that time.

                    The main caveat to prevent it from being overly burdensome is if the turn timer ending point changes dramatically, it is always acceptable for a player who plays at a consistent time (say, 10pm-12am EDT daily) to play at that time.

                    In general, it is not a problem for periodically the double move to end up occurring because of unavoidable circumstances, so long as players are cognizant of it and try to avoid moves that would take advantage of it.

                    The only real problem other than this has been multiple logins; several (including myself) think it should be allowed for a player to log in several times during the turn, so long as they follow the spirit of the double move rule - ie, if you moved things after your opponent logged in last turn, you don't move them again until after he logs in again this turn. It's a bit complicated, and if there is a more competitive arena where cheating is more likely to occur (or more of a problem), it may be better to ban it.

                      I think Cyber already said we should wait for the last patch.

                      I have an idea what if we keep Marathon or Epic and start in the Classical era instead of ancient? That way we save a bit of time, and avoid the long early nothing to do turns.

                        Maybe if we go for the New World-Old World thing we could have players from timezones start on the same contient, that way players could perhaps sometimes enjoy a bit of in-game IC chat?

                          Hmm, that's an idea. I'm not a big fan of skipping ages and would vote against it. But if people wanted to do it, I'd go along.

                            I'd say a simple solution is to designate one player to wait and play the last turn, and cycle that player with a roster, so no-one has the advantage. If someone has to miss out a week, then if they say in advance, they can be factored in to when the designated 'last player' has a turn.

                              That is a good idea.

                              But remember we are dealing with 18 players here.

                                I like the idea of starting where you are in RL. But I agree with Ozzy about skipping ages. It's not very fun when you have to start a game halfway through.
