  • I'll throw my 2 cents in regarding all this...

First off, I think Blackdragon is testing the waters a bit and at the same time trying to get Cyber's dander up. (We have been following this thread all night since we work together, and have had a chuckle or two as well).

I have explained to him that he CAN do whatever he likes regarding war in a diplogame, however sometimes there are reprocussions for being overly agressive and expecially trying to cripple another player beyond repair.

Then again, there might not be reprocussions... as was seen in HOTWXII when one civs nation was half taken over AND their capital taken (by an experienced and unnamed player ) Sure alot of players threatened action, but only one was actually serious IMO, and it didn't even get to that point. (they had to fight for their capital back, it was not negotiated)

So to Blackdragon I say, if you want to warmonger go for it, but be wary of the potential concequences of excessive destruction.

Personally, I think with 18 players we should ease up on the obsession with peace that seems to be an overriding factor in diplogames. Historicly, nations HAVE been decimated by larger nations... often without intervention by other civilizations (expecially in ancient times). I understand we want to keep the game fun for all, but if someone doesn't bother defending adequetly, or doesn't save themselfs through diplomacy, well then...

world domination early was a possibility and it is not in a diplo game.
It is not a possibility because of the diplo aspect. A nation under threat of total destrucion can always plead their case to the world, or even trade/pay for help.

            • We must all be in the game for the long haul.

I started in HOTW4 next to Raz and could easily have knocked him out but I did not of course.

We were allied and at times an uneasy alliance.

But when it came to the end game and my Azande struck out miltarily, it was only because of this alliance and brilliant diplomacy and story telling, by Raz in particular, that allowed me to do what I did.

An earlier much larger empire incorporating Raz's (Egyptians?) would have left Azande much more vulnerable game long - much better strategically to be supporting an ally, in this case, geographically cushioning the Azande.

There you go - intelligent bravado

              Sorry BD921!

HOTW12 found a good balance so that plenty of wars occur. I wasn't happy about the Carpathian capital being taken and would never choose to do this myself (but because Carpathia sulked and refused to negotiate diplo style the game came close to a precipice).

After you've submitted your civ, you can return to your document and pick a leader as well.

Please all do this, even if your civ has only 1 leader!
I would have assumed that you ould not need to do that for just one leader but anyway I have changed to my one and only leader for my civ. We need to hurry up and get this finished.

I agree with this. There were plenty of fun wars in HOTW12, but none crippled a nation. Well there was Carpathia, but they didn't want to negoitate, the Americans wanted to negoiate on several occasions.

I agree, I vote that if 12 dosen't vote today he should be replaced by Lz.

                            • SO Pinchak will create the map. Well knowing his civ he may be inclined to better himself off - just human nature. Please try to make starts fair to everyone. OF course you can use your imagination to spice things up and make it a great map. Ozzy's map set for HOTW12 is the one to beat by the way

SO yes you have a great challenge a front of yourself here.

Can't wait to see what you come up with Pin

And yes two conts with a 3rd unsettled sounds great. By the way will those two conts be connected somehow?

This has been covered. They will be reachable by galleons via the "greenland like" city site (which will need to be settled).
