I would prefer to play regular sessions, but I really think we need a semi-permanent plan B. That is what this pitboss is plan B.

Lets cool off. This time of year one has many life events such as end of term exams, holidays, graduations, etc.
I had posted many many times in HOTW threads that when civs get far behind, the players often feel hopeless about achieving some kind of equality in the game. Some of us have no way to catch up with the civs that made rapid growth in the beginning. Limited trading is probably where these folks are stuck. They can't expect to gain enough tech etc.
I know that being last for nearly the whole game, especially if one is not a keen story teller, is NOT fun. Some, just a few like France are wonderful story tellers and would probably keep posting and playing even if France was last in points and teching.
Anyway, Tis the season to expect real life interference. This and also December are fallow periods.
If folks start another game after this one, I would suggest a faster speed, so that everyone can play more to the end of the sessions. At least the very last guys wont have to sit there for 6 months, trying to maintain interest while in a rather disheartening situation.
Marathon speed might be great for stories, however we seem to find it difficult to finish our games due to drops and lack of subs for SOO many people.
I'd suggest:
1. Faster game speed
2. no more than 8 players and to have subs lined up. (perm Subs)
3. If there is a trading tech limit, I would have it made that you can only trade two techs per era, which will retain future diplomacy possibilities.
An 8 player game will be a little quicker than an 11 player game, showing progress per session.

There ha been some discussion of switching to a pitboss format, as I cannot guarantee the ability to turn more often than 72 hours, although generally it is better than that, I am not in favour of pitboss.
On other issues, particularly tech trading, it appears that some civs have made rapid advances in learning at a time when most civs have traded all or nearly all of their allowable trades. This suggests that some civs are still trading away techs past their 10 tech trading limit, whether this is intentional or the result of subs, it is having an impact on this game and altering the course of the game.

In any case I don't see a big problem, the civs that are cathcing up in tech are civs like Carpathia, Russia and Mali, who where underdogs most of the game.
I would also like to say that I don't think its the tech limit that is holding these civs back but, its the fact they have very little to trade. I also don't agree with what Russia said, I claim that every civ in HOTW12 is currently enjoyable.
Russia is catching up to America and has become a middle range civ thans to Nols playing her real well. Mali is doing better ever thanks to the player coming back and an ok sub, I'm certain they are going to be doing allright espcially since their lands are rich with rescources and they have plenty of room for vertical growth and improvement.
Carpathias postion is underated, they are ok in tech thec have by themsevles gotten railroad. We need to
get someone to log in as Germany and give Carpathia back all its cities and units, then have them leave. Carpathia can either keep the city state as a vassal or conquer it back with ease. In any case this is very fun story wise.
Finnaly I am perplexed by the low score of the Ottomans, but I belive it is not due to them falling back in tech, its due to them loosing like half of their land and population is selling off old world lands. Which is a very interesting move storywise.
Guys lets do a tally of who could make it this weekend, I just have had an interesting idea, I could make it this weekend if we started one hour early. I would need to move a few things around and it would be something of a hassle.
Can the regular player for Ottoman make it?
Can America find a sub and breif him properly (if he can find one by thursday or if we can find one for him that will be good enough) on what to do?
Carpathia will they be there? Its a real pain in the behing how they ditched us last session without saying a word. If not he needs to have a sub.
Mali, Russia, Inca, Holland being there.
If the above conditions are met the value such a "proper" session would have for HOTW12 would outweigh in my opinion the hassle I would need to go through..'Impossible' n'est pas français.
