I think that would be awesome.

5 example maps, as you can see there are many islands, and most connect to each other. If Ozzy can fill in the missing links (maybe 4 or 5 extra 1-tile islands will do it) then it's an excellent map with multiple continents, but 100% contact among all civs, many possibilities for colonizations, without the best 2-4 civs getting all the good spots.
(these are the first 5 maps the script created, I didn't 'leave out' the bad ones)

Still unsure how many players we will end up with. So are we going with Epic or M speed (I'm ok with both) Map size large or Huge? (leaning towards huge here)
Any ideas of what other sets we can add? Example agressive barbs make ppl think twice before they start expanding.
Also i was thinking we add a new rule, if a player skips a session, i say everything goes with the AI

We must vote on the following:
- epic or marathon
- map size
- no tech trading / no tech brokering / free tech trading
- no goodie huts (to make things totally fair)
- map type
- extra rules
I'm not keen on the 'player miss a session: let the AI run'
Surely now a few of the old HOTW players may be keen to sub for us (Ozzy, Mike, Kuno).
A good rule may be: if you miss 2 sessions in a row, during the 2nd session other players may declare war upon you.Formerly known as "CyberShy"

Epic
Map Size - Huge
No Tech Trading. this is the only deal breaker for me. EVerytime I get talked into a game with Tech trading or brokering I end up very dissappointed. If any trading or gifting is allowed you can count me out.
I like Goodie huts but don't really care.
Map Type - Multiple continents with some empty continents. MY only fear of this type of game is that the inhabitants of the continent will naturally ally and it will turn into a team game based on continent.
Is there a no-attack or no city-rush period in the beginning of the game?
Anyways its sounds like the tech-trading crowd is in the majority so I probably won't be playing anyways. Let me know.

Rules
We're having an issue regarding the tech trading rule.
Without tech trading Nolan and Aussie_Lurker won't join the game
With any form of tech trading Deity Dude won't join the game.
I still hope we can have a compromis with "No Tech Brokering" and get everyone in the game. DD: No Tech Brokering is new in BtS, how can you have played many of those games while the game is hardly out? Are you sure that you're familiar with the No Tech Brokering concept?

I'm leaving for vacation this coming friday. I'd like to bring up 10 maps before I leave so everybody has enough time to examine the maps and vote for the map they deserve. So that Ozzy has some time after that to tweak the maps to make sure that all players connect without Astronomy.Last edited by Robert; July 24, 2007, 04:44.Formerly known as "CyberShy"

Well, there's an unwritten rule in diplogaming to not rush anyone anyway. I'm not too keen on making too many rules explicit, because it may take the flexibility of the game away.
But the common rule of Diplogaming is that you can take 1 or 2 cities from another civ, and then start to negotiate peace.
The other civ must obviously be willing to give in to demands. If the 'being defeated' civ keeps refusing demands that the rest of the world leaders consider to be acceptable, there's no problem continueing the war and take another city.
But the agressor must be willing to negotiate peace.
Mostly half of the other players will jump upon the agressor as some kind of a UN if someone keeps destroying cities of civ x.
That's the natural flow of a diplogame.
It's not a game, it's as if you're a real world leader
Maybe another good rule: no city razing. It's realistic, and it makes sure that players do not raze key cities of other civs, who will not get the change to retake it.Formerly known as "CyberShy"

all,
After alot of thought, I think I'm going to withdraw out of this game, and open up a spot for someone else.
After understanding the time you will play online, it just will not work for me in my current RL situation.
Thanks for the chance and hopefully the time will work out better next time..
thanks
