1 - I'm ok to wait for Beta so a week later is fine
    2 - Epic speed - yikes kinda slow ;-)
3 - Boodica - she is charismatic (sexy) and Aggressive (Cetls) have the dun
4 - I have no experience with diplo games so I'll do what you folks want - but am wondering about no tech trading - does that help leader or followers? I think Followers - I know the AI catches up with me with tech trading :-) - so I am guessing no tech trading helps the leader - right? Is that what we want?

Tech Brokering is a nice 'Middle Ground' between Tech Whoring & Followers potentially being left behind (which is what happens in a Tech Trade/No Tech Trade Scenario respectively). With No Tech Brokering enabled, an ally with a tech lead can give a 'leg up' to a friend without the fear that the tech will end up in the hands of his/her rivals.
I am with Nolan on this-if its No Tech Trade, then count me out of this game. Sorry, but if we are not going to make use of a feature WE begged for, then really whats the point?

We did our ad-hoc no tech brokering option in the last game and it resulted in fixed alliances for the entire game. And created a significant division between the haves and have-nots.

No Tech Brokering is ok, i guess in order not to loss half the players we should drop the no tech trading option.

No its not too late to join mrboo123, you are very welcomed mrboo123.

Are you familiar with the diplo concept?

Our goal is to form a nice reliable group of players, which will play for the next 3-4 motnhs.

If you like what you read and want to participate, please go ahead and pick a civ.

About the starting date we are aimming for August 31, due to some ppl missing before that.

Not really, but from reading the opening post, seems to be more about roleplaying and playing realistic than winning. Something that I've always wanted to try.

I don't think that will be too much of a problem, but I'd like to know more about the schedule of the playing time (I suppose you could say). I know its Friday nights and Saturday mornings Is it that we play all at one time? (Say, unlike PBEM)

If you like what you read and want to participate, please go ahead and pick a civ.
Well, here's my list so far as to civs I'd like to play. But I'll wait until I get BTS to say for sure.

Darius I, Oranje, Washington, and Mehmed II. If forced to pick, Oranje.

We'll see if I can make it, because I'm moving around that time to the University dorms, and getting a new computer. I just may miss the starting game. (Getting connected to the internet maybe the longest point of that transaction)

                  Our game schedule is:

Every Friday starting 7:30pm - 11pm eastern time (game sessions go for 3.30hr maybe more if everyone wants to play)

I would say that the average game goes for 15 weeks (Now that we won't have any con issues playing through the gamespy lobby)

And yes Diplo games are all about roleplaying and playing realistic. (much politics and negotiations)

I think that the alliance thing may be less problematic if we start with some kind of a continents map.

I'll post some examples of the new "Big and small" continents mapscript. There are many islands, which make it a very interesting map script.

We may even create a mod that allows ocean sailing far before astronomy. (to fix the 'no contact' problem)

                            That's a pitty, Pinchak.
Maybe it's not a good idea to start in this game. I'm sure that there's some civ you can take over later since somebody left it. (which is for us, but also because you may get it )

Can failedreality, Deity and Toni start to pick their civ?
So that I can create some example maps.
We can use the Big and Small map, and ask OzzyKP to make some changes in the worldbuilder so that all civs can meet eachother without astronomy.

That'll give us the best of all!
                            1. contact among all civs
                            2. different civs on different continents, increasing alliance and war tactical decisions
                            3. increase naval warfire
                            4. many colonization options without the risk that the first 3 civs to reach astronomy will get it all

I also suggest to use No Tech Brokering, if not only to not lose Aussie_Lurker and Nolan.
It's a new option, it may serve us well. For sure combined with the continents, which will surely limit the size of the alliances.
