    1. It is diplogame NOT demogame. Totally different types of games.

    2. You really aren't that far behind in tech. We are really just starting this game. I'd wager that few people have iron working and no one has mathematics. We are on marathon speed and only 170 turns into the game. Just two sessions played so far. The Zulu have had high GNP, production, and food production for most of the game (until Levi started slaving like crazy to make his war machine). So I'd imagine you aren't far behind in tech at all.

    3. I built a road connecting York and London (a long road that took a long time to complete and was valuable to me. Since most of the road was outside of my borders Levi started pillaging the entire road. So I declared war. So according to game mechanics I declared war, but any reasonable person would see that it was Levi who initiated the war with me.

    4. We use AIM or YIM.

    5. Game time in EST is either 6.30 or 7.30 PM on Friday. We are still debating which because of day light savings time.

    6. You are off to a great start with the diplomacy. Keep it up.

Ok, marathon speed puts it more into perspective. When I saw 19 turns till iron working i was a bit appalled (i am used to either quick or normal). My rate is still junk though (60% with -6 gold... and i have no reserve). All my citys are at pop 1 or 2, with no buildings and almost no improvements. This ship is sinking fast.

I'm going to quit pleading my case now. If someone could help me out with iron working that would be great though. I have so much jungle it makes the amazon look like Yosemite.

I will trade any and all techs. Please hit me up and or gift. You will be repaid!

I'm guessing most people don't have writing yet, so we can't trade tech yet. Again, it is really, really early in the game. You are not far behind.

As for your science rate, just get rid of some of your huge military and things will be more manageable.

You are not alone in thinking the first rule is a little odd. I mean REAL NATIONS have in the history of the world tried to take over the world, in fact for a long time that was ALL they did. Until about the middle ages I would say.

Yes, Gemany must have writing in order to have code.

I'm going to guess code was oracled.

I agree. And considering the Zulu have the aggressive trait, I would think that early expansion with warfare would fall right into roleplay. Certainly with a neighbor that declared war on them for influencing what is technically "neutral territory". Destruction of the roads could even be considered "forwarning" which from what I read in the diploguide is required.

What can I say... I am stuck with a huge army that I can't use because I'll be deemed a danger to the world if i do. I guess this would be easier to swallow if I could repair the damage that was caused to get this army so fast, or if I knew there would be such an outrage when I get attacked in the future.

From looking at the statistics, not many have died in this current conflict. So why so much backlash toward the Zulu? Not like the Zulus are about to raze a capital, or eat babys. If the zulu did not stop at one city then i could see worldwide concern. From what i can tell however, this war follows the guidelines of war in a diplomacy game.

I really need a solid definition of under what circumstances a war is justified. If not after you are attacked, then when? Levi might have had a personal issue with Ozzy that influanced his actions, but all things being equal, if another nation places a city next to my capital before filling out undisputed land, that is more of a cause for war then some roads in neutral land being pillaged.

Not trying to be a smartass, but these are ligitimate, logical questions i have about this format.

And please Ozzy, do not take any of this personally. I know you from an avatar and some of your writing (quite good reading i might add). The main fuel behind this is that to truly play the hand i have been delt, I should probably try and take the city you have next to my capital. Pure stratege... not some vendeta which was Levi's motivation.

I'm new to all of this though, so I'll ride it out and roleplay whatever leader you guys elect. Not my place to try and rock the boat as a newcomer.

                    PM I've sent to everybody:

                    Hi all,

Last weekend our fellow American friends have adopted DST (Daylight Saving Time). Good for them!
Next week Europe will adopt DST as well (good for us) (me)

                    Now what do we do?
My suggestion is: We change for THIS SESSION to DST!
That means NO CHANGE for the Americans, only the Australians (Deity), Asians (Kuno) and Europeans (me) must change!!!

That means that the three of us start one hour earlier LOCAL time while the Americans/Canadians/etc. start NORMAL LOCAL TIME!

That factually means that the game starts:

                    Singapore: 06:30

                    UTC/GMT: 22:30

                    CET: 23:30
                    EDT: 18:30
                    CST: 17:30
                    MDT: 16:30
                    PDT: 15:30

The australian timezones are impossible to figure out for me. There are experiments with daylight saving? DS ends march 25th? Well, Deity, maybe you can figure it out for yourself

Anyway, if anybody has a problem with this, please let it know IN TIME in the SETUP Thread!
Please don't respond with: "Can things please not just stay as they were" since that's impossible. Daylight Saving Time is starting/ending, things ARE CHANGING! And we have to agree on how to handle this!

It's not as if I invented this change
So please, all either adopt or write your wishes in the thread! Keep an eye on the setup thread as well please!

If you didn't read this PM in time, blame yourself since I asked everybody to turn on PM notification :-P:P:P (that's a joke with a small serious base!)

Deity/Dacole: please turn on your PM notification!!
Both pop-up notification (you get a pop-up if you open apolyton) and e-mail notification!

Btw, it's a strange thing that Europeans like me have to research what time americans like Ozzy have to play their game!
Ok, I admit, you guys really were very helpfull during WW2! Thanks a lot again! But I feel like I've almost payed you back already though
