yes I know I am falling far behind sorry. Anyway looking more and more like I am not going to be able to make it tonight for the game as I am pretty sure now that I have a fever. (the themometer I have doesn't work anymore so going to have to get another one (sigh). So if you can find a sub for me would be great if not is ok. Hopefully I will feel better soon. This subbing, finishing up at my university job and looking for a permanent job is killer 9sigh)

Get a professional grade one ... not one of those home grade wifi do everything ones.

If you want wireless, get a pro-grade router/firewall, and plug a separate WiFi access point into that.

And read the manual, please. Or get help before the day of the game ( a two person dry run or something ). I am willing to help with router issues, but expecting me to help sort out grief after the game was supposed to start is a bit much.

I know how routers work, but thanks for your advise!
The current router I have is a childrens-router, I can't open ports or forward ports, I can only 'create games' and assign them to a 'machine' instead of assigning them to a IP.

Fine with me if it works, and I think it works, after all I can host games and there aren't problems with most people.

I think there's something wrong somewhere in the game. Like yesterday, when Ozzy hosted there was nothing wrong, when Kuno hosted we excluded each other, that's so weird.

I bought a € 100 ($ 135) router (linksys - G) router, that according to the salesman was the best configurable router available.

if it's not good enough I'll return it.
I'd rather have no router in my adsl modem at all.

To CS and /or others who have hosted sessions - a question.

When we are playing - and one player is very slow - others often tell the host to advance the turn. Can the host actually do this - and if so how?

And secondly - along the same lines - can you replace a player with the AI while the game is in session - or do you need to relaunch?

Websearch "Cisco firewall price" sometime. If you are buying a < $200 firewall from a retail salesman, you are buying home equipment.

Part of the problem is firmware writers are trying to make things too easy ... if you are not doing what they assumed you would want, you are screwed.

An older non-wifi router may be more useful.

I'm using an old beater ... a netgear FR114P. No wifi ... I use a seperate Soekris access point for that.

It is dumb ... I have to tell it exactly what I want it to do, what ports to use, and when. But it does just follow my instructions, which is what I want.
