But we can't reject a start unless we post the pic and get a consensus vote, I suggest.

Also, if you don't look at Cyber's map you'll get what you get. Looking at Cyber's maps, active posting here and discussing the start issue are all signs of reliability - don't fail the reliability test!

Nope. I joined for the civ3 team demo game - Vox Controli - back in 2002. From there, numerous demo games, and numerous pbem games. Some Civ3 mp - one on one stuff - meh - and now very keen on pitboss based games.

This interests me for the pace of play - the scope of the games - and the historical/roleplay aspect wrapped around the game.

Looking forward to it.

Yea, didn't you get in on that Civ3 Diplogame I tried to start?

It was PBEM and I got sick of it pretty quick and dropped out. Did that game ever make it out of ancient times? Is it still going?

5b and 2b are very poor starts. Both are in arctic/tundra conditions. In 5b you could probably get two cities in. Lots of crabs though.

The other 3 are OK.

My order of preference (first to last) would be:

1b
4b
3b
2b
5b

Map 5b
Maps 2b, 3b or 4b all pretty equal
Map 1b a little behind

But I've not explored; just built city to see the radii.

Not sure which game you are talking about Ozzy??? Was it a diplo game or a team-based democracy game?

Made it all the way till 2390 bc, I'm very impressed. Ahh, PBEM, I don't know how anyone can stomach it.

And after a bit of a search I don't think you were at all part of my ill-fated attempt to bring diplogaming to Civ3 like I thought. Nevermind then.

Also, I think bad starts are not necessarily a bad thing (remember me in HOTW5); but OVERLAPPING starts are unacceptable. I think this is the main thing to eliminate by what Cyber has proposed with these 5 choices.

I'll check the maps out tonight to see if I prefer one map above the other. I just glanced at them so far.
