Sounds like my HOTW7 starting position.
Far south, 2 land pieces with grass/forrest, ice around it, but 4 crabs (the rest was normal sea and later oil appeared within my fat cross in the sea as well.

2b winning so far... (lower the points the better)

I've given it some thought, and I think I'd actually prefer my tundra start of 1b to my start in 3b. So I'm switching up the grid:

          Map Beta deity ozzy Tots

          1b 1 5 3 9
          2b 4 2 1 7
          3b 3 3 4 10
          4b 2 4 x x

          • Maybe it's fair to just use the first map with which nobody has a huge problem and not the most popular map.

See it that we would start friday without all this pre-map stuff. Then we first generate map 1, if nobody has a problem with map 1 we continue with map 1 without even knowing about 2-5.

If someone has a problem we reload and generate map 2, if nobody has a problem with it we continue with map 2 and don't know about map 3-5.

            etc. etc.
Thus I suggest that we use map 1 unless someone has a problem with that map, then we proceed to map 2, etc.

              • We should send pm's to the ppl who haven't confirmed yet. I will be looking for mike and nolan tonight and let them know we will be starting tomorrow.

Also we should contact Dacole and kbarret. If we don't get an answer from them what then? I strongly believe that we will be able to find kb! Still there is a chance that they may not know and make it in time for the game.

                • So looks like we will be starting with no pre generated map? Which i think will be best for all actually!

                  • Map of 5B start for the Americans. Settled on the spot, and moved the warrior a few turns to the west to see if the land opened up any. Nope.

                    • What I could do is check out the Carthaginian starts, rank them, and if dacole does not show up, I can switch over to an Ok Carthagian start and we axe the Americans. Just a thought to get us going.

Axing the Americans using 2b or 5b, from what I can see, will not unduly unbalance the game in favour of another civ. I think in both cases they went sailing for the new world, and went North instead of West.

                      • Toni: I have sent a PM to everybody. To you as well, you apparantly do not read your PM's

Beta: that's not the best start indeed. but there may be good land to the east! Can you explore that?

                        • I just read it CS, so check the options? And we pick on of them? Then vote as beta, deity and ozzy did and pick the best score option? Is that the final verdict?

Going to look at them now!
