Not sure about 2.08.

If you don't own the CD there could be a problem as we discovered last Sunday in the Aussie game.

Can everyone confirm that they can successfully update to 2.08, particularly those with tester status (ie free versions of Civ4)?

It is impossible to stop the vassalagation of a nation after they capitulated. The only way that the Celts can be a free nation again is when their territory or population drops below or raises beyond a certain rate. (not sure, you'll see the rates when you mouse-over the name of the celts in the right-bottom)

Neither can masters and vassals trade cities to each other. An option would of course be that the city would be traded to a 3rd nation who trades it to the vassal or vica versa.

In other games a vassalage can be ended. Is this different. Sorry, not sure about this.

Question regarding vassalage: are the master and the vassal(s) considered as one unit when it comes to tech trading? Is a master allowed to demand any tech he wants from his vassel under threat of war?

Deity: there is peacefull vassalage, which can be ended, and capitulation. If a nation capitulated (like I assume that the Celts did) it can only be ended under the conditions I mentioned.

@Kuno: they can trade techs but are totally seperated in their research. I don't think that a master can demand it's vassal to hand over the tech. I don't know how it works in multiplayer but I have the feeling that the master doesn't have any power to let the vassal do what he wants them to do. He can't even declare war on him.

Ah, thanks. So I moused over the Celts and they have several requirements to be met before vassalage can be ended. Is either or all?

Depending on negotiations we could arrange for other parties to take the cities and then gift them to the respective civs? But it's a bit artificial.

Not sure about this vassalage thing but it's interesting so far. But OT is suffering for this experiment

I'm not sure if he's suffering.
I think his maintenance costs are being covered for 50% by Arabia now. The only pain for him is that his points have dropped.

It would be cool though if in mp games you can negotiate yourself out of vassalage. On the other side: capitulation = capitulation

Still deciding on which brother will lead India during the next session.....

well... considering that Asoka is mad as a shoebox full of acid-dropping ferrets... I think he should keep going strong. (or keep going mad...)

though for the sake of india i think gandhi might be the best bet.
