That's what I want to do, but I'm not sure how to do that thing MMC was talking about which allows a host to run 2 PitBoss games concurrently, as I am already running one.

In my other game hosted as a Ladder diplomacy-style game (what was I thinking!?), we had one "power session" to kick it off. In that game, additional live sessions will be organized if and when everyone can meet.

I feel that there are benefits to both the live playing sessions and the extra turns during the week, and the PitBoss allows us to do both!

As for the Space Race leading to isolationism, I agree. However, a civ that is isolationist can be role-played too. For example, America during its early years was isolationist, according to the civilopedia. The Space Victory reminds me of the historical Space Race between the US and the former Soviet Union. And indeed, that race was part of the Cold War, which is an isolationist concept by its very nature. Just my thoughts...

How 'bout we just leave Space Victory checked and we just won't count it as the end. The civilopedia says that if it is unchecked, you can't build the spaceship at all.

You can't even build the Space elevator without Space Race enabled.

I'd like to play but wouldn't want to commit to it every week as I already play a weekly game on sunday afternoons. Is anyone interested in hosting a game like this over pitboss?

Whilst the server is online, any player may connect at anytime and play their turn (unless they're waiting for someone else to play their turn first).

EDIT: This doesn't mean that the server has to be up 24/7. It simply means that the server would have to be up 24/7 if players want to be able to access the game 24/7.

You have to use email or IMs for diplomacy if the player you want to deal with is offline.

I personaly dont like simultanous moves either, seems that the ones with better conenctions get to move first, i hve seen this in Civ2 and civ3 games and it realy doesnt work well for someone who likes to think aobut what is going in , it suits the Real TIME game players not the TURN BASED game palyers.
